I have an '02 X1, just found a re-enforced swingarm, pro thunder style. Now what do I need to complete the chain conversion, and where do I buy the stuff.

I know I need:

1) Front Sprocket (what kind though)

2) Rear Sprocket (again what kind)

3) Chain

4) Fill in the rest of the things I need here please.

Thanks in advance.

Christos,

Go to your local HD dealer. Have the friendly parts guy look up a '91 Sportster five speed (chain drive).
You will need:
1. Front sprocket spacer.
2. Front sprocket seal.
3. Front sprocket quad ring.
4. Front and rear Sportster sprockets in the gear ratio of your choice. The after market provides plenty of sprocket choices in both steel and aluminum.

Now that you have a chain drive be ready to spend more time on driveline maintenance.

Maybe Aaron W can help you with more information.

Greg

Check out this link.... ASB Chain Conversion.

They sell a complete kit. They support this website. They're all around great people.

Keep checking E-bay, someone keeps posting a 520 chain conversion kit, every time it gets cheaper, but too much for me or I would have bought it. I asked the seller what else I would need and he said everything I would need was in the kit, seal, spacer, etc.

I suggest you use 530 chain over 520, unless you want to be adjusting your chain a lot. Personally, I prefer O-ring chains . The extra weight of a 530 O-ring chain and sprockets over the weight of a 520 chain and sprockets is offset by reduced maintenance.
