All right,

So, I'm stealing a little something from Court's suggestion in my welcome Nallin string, but I don't think he'll disapprove.

High Country Buell/H-D proudly announces our Fly, Buy and Ride program. Anyone purchasing a new XB9R or XB9S from HCB that travels to us from out of state will receive a $200 travel reimbursement from HCB at time of delivery of your new Buell. We will pick you up from Denver International Airport upon your arrival and shuttle you to HCB. If you'd like to ship riding gear ahead to the dealership, please feel free to do so and we will place it in secure storage until you arrive.
Your new XB's suspension will be set up specifically for your body weight and riding style by factory-trained master technician, and former Lightning Series racer Mike Friberg before you take delivery. Performance modifications can also be completed before you set foot in HCB, including, but not limited to, Buell factory race kits, Nallin 1050 kits, headwork and dyno tuning by Brian Nallin and Aaron Wilson.
We also carry a full line of Buell apparel, including Vanson Leathers, and will be happy to give you a 10%-discount on a one-time in-store purchase on both parts (excluding Nallin) and accesories and riding apparel while you are in our store.
Bottom line, we want your business, and we're willing to go the extra mile to get it.
If you have any questions about this new program, or want to know when you can come pick up your new bike please give me a call. Hope to hear from you all soon! ;)

Newfie,

Not sure on airfare from the Great White North, but you can bet I could figure it out to get you on a new XB. :)

P.S. Not to exclude our friends here in state, or within driving distance, we will substitute a $200 in-store credit in place of the travel credit.

Would love to fly in & buy one but this time of year its a tad bit chilly to ride it back.

$200 American Dollars is like $10,000 Canadian.

My next Buell is gonna be a S2!!!!

Justin, post HCB's snail-mail address, and i'll send two very recent pix of my '98 VFR, to your attention.

i can't remember when you said you could entertain again the concept of an off-shore trade-in, but in the meantime you may as well see what i'm willing to give up to park my butt on a new Lightning.

btw, you've got ASW Racing, and now Nallin Racing, so close to your dealership that you can dangle their services like gold-plated carrots?

lucky, lucky boy :)

My next Buell is gonna be a S2!!!!

Shame on me for thinking this, and I can't afford this right now, so I shouldn't even be considering it, so I won't, at least at this time. Hmmm 9S, wait for a potentially new model, S2, 9S, hmmm, (stop that now).

Mike,

There is someting about the S2 that I really like. I already own a 98 S1 - the ultimate streetfighter so I really don't need the 9S. If I could find one in Canada I would seriously consider one of the models prior to the S2 but I think thats gonna be a problem.

Ferris,

HCB's address is 3761 Monarch St.; Frederick, CO. 80516.

Our XB's are selling for MSRP at $9995. I know some of the other dealers are blowing them out for just over cost, etc., and I don't blame people for wanting to save money, but I do blame other dealers for devaluing the product. Bottom line, the XB's are great bikes, and the 9S is, in my opinion, the best bike Buell's ever built (and I have ridden them all, minus Aaron's RR. He took the keys when he left the bike) :)
Point being, the dealers dumping their Buells are indeed doing just that - DUMPING THEIR BUELLS. These guys neither like the product, nor do they want to support it. I won't tell any of you how or where to spend your money (lord knows we all work hard for it), but just promise me that you'll give us a chance once that same dealer that sold you a bike at $8500 has disappointed for the 100th time by not having parts, or botching the work done to your bike.

Damn Justin, that's all anyone can ask for...

Once I'm in the market for a new bike, I will be seriously considering taking a flight out there just to support what seems to me to be one hell of a dealership.

Thanks for the support Jim,

We want to be fair in our pricing of new bikes, and by sticking to msrp I think we are. Bottom line we're in business, and giving bikes away for just about what you got them for doesn't really seem to make much sense when it's a good product and is at least worth what Buell thinks it ought to be. Maybe if all these dealers hadn't abused their customers in the first place they might have some people left to sell bikes to now, and won't have to give them away.
Case in point, I've sold all the Firebolts I had to sell at msrp up until the last month (it's been snowing). Meanwhile, the dealer up the road still has all but one of theirs, selling them at $1500 under msrp. Chalk it up to product knowledge, parts availability or whatever else, but I think it simply boils down to Buell buyers being savy enough to not support those dealers that don't support them.

Justin, i've not been in the Buell "biz" as long as some, but long enough to have seen the good (nice, but not nearly enough), the bad (not nice, one is one too many) and the ugly (sadly, there are more than a few) when it comes to Buell dealerships and the people who work at same.

i've not met you, but i sure like your passion and enthusiasm.

and your honesty.

is there an expiration date to your Fly, Buy and Ride offer?

and in light of your "it's been snowing" comment above, any chance my new Lightning could be equipped with studded tires? :)

pix of my VFR should hit your in-box sometime next week.

Ferris,

We're planning no expiration date on the FB&R, so consider it a standing offer. The weather has smiled on us the past couple of days melting snow and climbing into the 60's. It can be hit and miss around here, but we do have more days of sunshine every year than any other state in the lower 48. (no joke, look it up) ;) So, chances are you'd get out under clear skies. Maybe cold skies, but clear none the less.
And thank you very much for appreciating my position on things when it comes to selling these machines. It's much appreciated.

Keep the shiny side up,

Justin, i just HAVE to call your bluff on this one! :)

we've had, in the past 48-ish hours, the first measurable rain (a TON of it, i might add) since May 21 (precisely when the All-Cal BRAG Tour came thru. coincidence? i think not!) here in the southern Southern Sierra.

where doth one look up trivia such as this?

if you are indeed correct, a six-pack of locally-brewed Mojave Gold is comin' your way.

and if I'M right? please do NOT send me any of that Coors swill you Coloradicals call beer!

Dear Justin Schilling Buell Specialist:

Amen!

You, along with Dave Steuve and others in the country have placed your collective motorcycle selling asses on the line and gathered the support of your dealer principles to take the "Buell Plunge".

British Essayist John Ruskin (1819-1900)once said "There is hardly anything in the world that some man cannot make a little worse and sell a little cheaper.

I submit the above holds as true to service as it does a product. You, as the frontline soldier, is a Buell dealership, are fighting Buell's most fiercely waged engagement and the one that most critically demands to be won for the Buell game piece to be advanced across the board.

Elasticity of demand is an elusive concept flowing from consumer choices in the disposition of personal capital; choices among spending, investment and saving. Service is among those "satisfiers" that has the power to tip scales. I've bought 6 Buells with my own money. Each and everyone I could have purchased much cheaper. Based on "value received" I've no regrets.

You as a dealer, are remiss in simply "selling" Buells. If this year has revealed no more, it's made clear that your task involves selling and "experience" and "ticket" to the Buell lifetime event. With each sale you have a duty to provide an excellent experience. I am convinced you are aware of and prepared to take responsibility for that. You, as a dealer, are the Buell Gatekeeper.

I am thrilled with your program and suspect that you're going to make some sales as a result of it. I'll tell ya one thing.....40 some odd pieces make a heck of a difference. In my mind the XB9R was awesome, but the XB9S is a checkbook jerker.

Congratulations for representing Buell the way they intend, and need, to be represented. I, along with many, are eagerly watching and hoping you all the success in the world.

By the way.....first bike to you sell to a Badwebber on this program, is in for a way cool "momento" from the Buell Basement.

I am thrilled about this.

Neogotiate on value, not price.

Court

I'll put a sixer of Left Hand Brewery Deep Cover Ale on it. Go to www.colorado.com/info/weather.asp
If you can prove me wrong give me a link. If not pay up sucka! (to borrow one of our friend Jesse's favorite phrases) :)

Court,

Again, thank you for your support in our efforts to become the best. We will win the war knowing full well there will be battles lost along the way. Another one of the state's bad and or ugly dealers is about of the game, chalk up a point for quality and dedication to the product.

Dave,
Same to you my friend. Next time I'm in that part of the country I'll be sure to stop in and see you, and if you're ever out in the Rocky Mountain West let me know and I'll take you up and show you some of the world's best twisties!

P.S. Everyone listen up! We're running a special in the months of Nov. and Dec. on parts installed in the shop. You'll get 20% off all parts installed by our Buell master mechanics during the special. This includes XB race kits, which we have in stock and waiting for installation. Nallin kits are excluded, but other parts involved (Mikuni carb, cams, exhaust) would apply.

I Look forward to riding with the HCB guys.

Justin,
Why would you come from Colorado to Iowa? Now, we come to Colorado about every other year. Love the Durango area. The bad part is that when I ride to your neck of the woods I'm on my FLHT,not the Buell. Maybe a loaner for a day and yes we can go do some twisties! Anyway would like to meet you someday. Looking at my ever trusty BRAG atlas, where is Fredrick at? We are planning on riding to Colorado next August.

Frederick is right along I-25 just north of the Denver metro area. We're located right at exit 235 which is the junction of I-25 and Colo. State HWY 52. You'd be welcome anytime. I'll have a race-kitted 9S ready when you decide to take me up on that offer!

Justin,

It's absolutely refreshing to see your enthusiasm with the Buell line in your dealership. Keep it up! I carried that same enthusiasm in the dealerships I worked at here in Jersey. Unfortunately I didn't have the same cooperation from our sales and service departments and was constantly stepping on the H-D Gurus toes for the benifit of my fellow Buellers. I had a great relationship with the Buell factory throughout all the recall problems and was a mover and shaker for happy Buellers. I still carry that enthusiasm for the Buell line. It's a company with a real, honest to goodness heart! After almost forty years of street riding, drag racing, flat tracking and even two seasons of humping an 883 Sportster in off road enduros (never won--always finished--great crowd pleaser!),all of which were powered by a Milwaukee born V-Twin, I still get the juvenile adrenaline rush every time I fire up my "Nallinized" S3T. I'm a bit to old to scrub the tires all the way up the sidewall but I still go through nine rears to one front. My Heritage and rigid springer gather dust as they don't come close to the amount of fun produced by the bike that some freakin' genius decided to suspend a Sporty motor from a tube frame. The entire H-D Company probably would have gone "Belly-Up" had it not listened to that same guy years ago and built a HOG that handeled. Yup!, Thanks Erik! What Bill Gates is to computers, Erik Buell is to AMERICAN Motorcycles.

Keep up the good work! Hell, with a dealership that's lucky enough to be so close to a wealth of Buell performance in Aaron and Brian's experience, you're gonna hafta run to keep up. It's a two wheeled version of the famous Baldwin Chevrolet-Motion Performance musclecars of the sixties.

I'd work happily for a dealership like yours only the 1800 mile commute would be a bitch. Guess I couldn't run home for lunch!

Kerry--The bald 'Ole

Thanks for the support Kerry,

I have to admit I wouldn't be able to do any of it without the support of the rest of the dealership. There are a lot of old timers working in shops out there that think Buells are a waste of time, and unfortunately those same old timers tend to be in positions of power. Luckily for me I only had one to contend with (parts manager) and I trumped him with the owner's enthusiasm and support of the Buell product.
Proof positive that we have a great shop to grow Buell in? - we had a track day with some tubers a 9S and 9R and out of our 50 employees 30 showed up to ride, and slowly more and more of them have talked about a Buell purchase. That's the real progress, changing minds from within so they can share the same enthusiasm that the guy across the counter from them has.
Harley sales is what I do to live, but riding and promoting Buells is what I live to do, and luckily enough for me I'm finally in a position to turn this place into the kind of Buell shop I had always hoped to find. It hasn't always been easy, and there's been more than a few days where I thought I was ice skating uphill, but at the end of the day when I meet yet another Bueller who has finally found our shop and we've exceeded his expectations it makes it all worth it, because in a way everyone of them was and is me. And after years of searching we may have at last found a home.

Thanks again,
Justin Schilling
