I'm seriously thinking of selling my '99 X1. I've put a lot of time and money into this bike. Basically I just seeing if anyone would be seriously interested. I'm in the middle of some mods but plan to have them finished, just some paint and powder coating. Check profile for recent pic and list of mods. Asking $12,000.00 O.B.O. If anyone is seriously interested please e-mail me.

BTW, used Leather jacket, Helmet, and trailer included in this price. Trailer needs some mods to fit rear tire in channel.

Jd,
With the market where it is right now you'll be hard pressed to sell a '99 X1 at that price. Post a pic of the trailer though, that might sell. The leather jacket would probably sell on e-bay. The problem of including a jacket with a bike is that the buyer has to fit that size, and most people don't want the accessory riding gear as they already have their own and most sellers won't reduce the price and remove the riding gear because they won't need it after they sell the bike, and this does round a round and usually ends up with out a sale and both the owner and potential buyer going their own ways grumpy. But, hey, sometimes the right buyer comes along in the right size and buys all your stuff at your asking price and needs a trailer and buys that too and goes away totally happy.

It just goes to show that you just never know sometimes.

Charlotte, what are you doing in here, I thought you were out trying to put harnesses on the rez dogs. ;)

Yeah,

I told CJ the same thing about the price, knew someone else knows more about it though, it is a pretty bike.

Could we harness some Blasts with metal spikes in their tires and run em on the ice with a sled behind em ?

You could, but they wouldn't let you run Iditarod (sp?). :)
Someone, or several someone's, recently posted some links to ice bike racing on the site here or on some other site. There is also a bicycle site on ice biking if you go totally cabin feverish this winter.
Did you know they have sled dog races in Palm Springs California????? Yep, on the mountain top every winter. Weird to be driving across the desert down there and see a truck with portholes with 8 sled dogs poking their heads out and a dogsled strapped to the roof while you're on a bike in 80° weather.
Oh well, just another item for the "well, how about that" folder. ;)

Nice bike but up here in Canada you can find new bikes still sitting on the dealer floors ranging from $12,000.00 to $15,000.00 Canadian Funds depending on the year and model. I have recently seen a 99 S3 with no milage for $12,900.00 Canadian Funds.

Keep it and enjoy.

Its just a market thing.

Food for thought:

N.A.D.A. High book $6500.00
KBB Trade in value $5765.00
KBB Retail value $8315.00
KBB takes into consideration that it's a limited edition paint (means more to some than others). I would rate my bike 8.5 out of 10.

I have approximately $6,000.00 in modifications and the engine has roughly 1,000 miles on fresh voluntary top end rebuild. It puts 100 HP and 83 ft pounds of torque to the ground. The bike itself has less than 8,000 miles.

I'll keep the jacket and helmet, it doesn't matter to me.

I forgot to mention that Pitbull front and rear stands go with it also.

Trailer est. value $500.00 (no title, but not hard to get one)
Front stand $160.00
Rear stand $140.00
Modifications est. value $6000.00
N.A.D.A. bike value $6500.00
Total $13,300.00

KBB retail $8315.00
Total $15,115.00

My est. total investment: $17,300.00, not including sales tax on initial price tag brand new, or $475.00 jacket and $200.00 helmet.

Not to mention my blood, sweat and tears that went into this machine.

Finally, those three little letters after my asking price mean that I will negotiate on the price.

I'm not trying to be a smart ass about this, just letting everyone know I don't think $12,000.00 (or less, within reason) is unreasonable for this bike and extras. If it doesn't sell, it doesn't sell. It's not like I have to feed it.

Sounds like a well cared for bike, I would have trouble letting that one go for what your asking.

To help your cause put it over in the For Sale section and attach some more photos.

Trust me, this isn't easy for me to do. I'm not sure if I'm going to have my job for much longer(company downsizing, may not hit me but I seem to be on the bubble), and the wife and I would like to have another baby in the near future. I know if I sell it I'll kick myself in the ass everytime I see a bike go down the road, but I feel that my family is more important than keeping my bike, which I'll just keep spending money on that I don't have. I'll just have to find a cheaper hobby.

I'll post it in the for sale section when I've finished my latest mods and have more up to date photos(and when I'm completely sure I want to sell it). I also have to fix a minor leak on the shifter shaft seal and it will be complete, well, it would never be complete in my eyes, I always think of something to do or change on it, and even though I'm contemplating selling it, I still catch myself surfing e-bay and other sites for something new. It's almost a sickness, maybe I'll use the money for therapy!

From my time spent Buell shopping, I'd hate to say it, but I don't think that bike will sell for anywhere near $12,000...especially considering that not everyone will want the other items thrown into the sale price. Buying a Buell means biting the bullet come sale time...regardless of what you've done to it...unless it's an RR or RS(S).

I've seen some very built Buells going for only a thousand of two over the typical sale prices.

Or Best Offer!

This can be defined a number of ways!

Someone can say I'll give you $X for everything or I'll give you $X for just the bike or I'll give you $X for the bike and stands etc....

In my neck of the woods O.B.O means go give a low ball offer and see what happens. The sight of cash can really affect the sale. For example: There was a truck for sale $2500.00. A month later the same truck $2200.00. Three weeks later I went to see if it was still there, it was, showed the guy $1500.00 cash and end of story, the truck is still sitting in my driveway.

Just because I have an asking price of $12,000.00 doesn't mean I have to get $12,000.00 out of it. I'm going to be needing money and people who need money do crazy things, who knows, I know I'm going to lose my ass anyway, all someone has to do is make the right offer.

JD . . . . . O.B.O. means just what you said . . . however, starting out that high (not saying it isn't worth it, to you) will likely disuade some potential buyers . . . specially the one's on this board, who have a good idea of what's what with Buells . . .. .

in any event, good luck with the bike sale, job, and baby making

HAHAHHAAAA.. nooffense, it IS a nice bike..
but you won't get more than 6k out of it.. and only 6 if you are the luckiest SOB out there....

Fishing is right!

these people have aken the bait, hook line and sinker to entertain the thought that you can sell that thing for 12k !

(jaded because my 98 S1W had more in it than your bike, and i was EXTREMELY fortunate to get 5800 for it....)

It's nice to have dreams though

Well the price probably will go down now, not because of what Timmy said, but because I was just informed today that I will be unemployed after friday. I will not be finishing any uncompleted mods but it can be easily finished or returned to normal.

BTW Timmy, what I remember of your bike when it was for sale, it did not have anything near what I have in mine, and if I remember correctly, you fabricated a lot of parts yourself (or so you said). And if you put more into the bike after I had checked into it, you were foolish, especially when you were trying to sell it.

Go ahead and laugh all you want, the bike doesn't cost me a dime sitting here, it's paid off and I don't have to feed it, I just need the extra money.

Bomber, fortunately I don't need luck to make a baby, and making them is half the fun! Just hope the next one is as good as the first one.

and, if the first one's a winner, you guys'll do great the second time, too!

Bomber,
May have to do that, the wife and I have been going nuts trying to figure a new budget, once you get used to a certain amount of money it's hard to go back.

Hey BradG,
Did you ever get over to Highland in Somerset? He's got a black 9S and a blue 9R there now, man do they ever look good, especially the S!

No didn't make it to Highland yet. I do need to go over there and make my name known.

Things have been a bit busy in the 'burgh. Hell I think my current motorcycle thinks, I'm cheating on it.

Just makes me mad when people try to blow smoke up my ass.
