I don't know much about Minnesota women, But I knew a lady in Kentucky who could make me levitate. I also learned that a golf ball could be drawn through a garden hose under the right conditions.
maybe this will get the topic to drift!

Yes, very condensed, as I've been at this keyboard for a while now. Mr. Honda (sorry but I can't remember how to spell his first name without looking it up) started with a 50cc four-stroke model with a pressed steel frame. At this point in fact, I think I can shorten this a bit more by asking you to look up the NSU Max. This was a 250cc four-stroke single introduced in Germany that was hugely influentual with the Japanese, not to mention highly successful in its own right as a racer. It had a very odd eccentric overhead cam drive, a pressed steel frame, and pressed steel leading link forks.

Honda went with a simple chain driven cam, but in virtually all of the rest of its '50s and early '60s models it copied most of the Max's features. This has ever been the Japanese way. Look at an early '60s Honda Dream to see perhaps the best example of this.

The first Honda that really mattered was the 50cc Cub, which was first introduced in America in 1959. It is no longer popular here, but in the third world they are still selling eight million of them a year. It is by far Honda's best ever selling model and still the source of the largest share of the motorcycle division's income.

That was followed by the wildly popular Trail 90. I learned on one, and owned two of them, along with a Super 90, and I believe most of the other riders of my generation did also.

The first model that mattered to enthusiasts was the CB 250 Hawk and the CL250 Scrambler, soon followed by the faster 305cc versions. These bikes were virtually as fast as Brit 650s, lighter, cheaper, and far better built and more reliable, and they probably did more than any other model to establish Honda's reputation. The 350 followed, and in 1965 the DOHC 450 appeared. It was not as good. It did make about the same HP as the Brits, but it also weighted as much as they did, with less torque and squirrelly handling, and it was ugly.

Honda made history and forever marked their place in motorcycle history with the 750 Four, indubitably a legend in its own time. There is no doubt it changed the market and people's expectations of what motorcycles should be for all time.

My kids want to get on-line, and I suspect you probably know what happened from the mid-seventies on, but I will come back with more tomorrow.

I NEVER cut and paste, that was all off the top of my head, without reference to a book, I don't need to, I have a virtually photographic memory for what I read.

anything but discuss the topic at hand Snail.

its the last resort of the internet troll... apperhently after:

so back TO the subject at hand...

it does appear that the majority of the respondents on the SacBorg poll are indeed tuber owners. Will have to comfirm that with some real numbers (as I always cry for), but I'm pretty sure thats the case.

why is that?

some possible options:

old time Buell owners
the narrow focus of the XB platform (until the new models)
gun-shy ex-owners
changing riding styles

Lot's of fun reading going on here.

XLCR, let me give you some persoanl history of myself.

I was an avid BWB'er waaay back in '97-98-99.

I proudly waved the Buell flag. It was an amazing time to be a Bueller. This was before HD had a controlling intreast in Buell, and it was like our own little secret motorcycle company.

I went to BHC two years in a row, meet up with BWB'ers for local rides, wrote a monthly Buell Column for Thunder Press for close to 5 years, and was BWB's very first ban. (Hey, were the hell is Doan Casto these days anyways?)

Right around the time i got banned was Sacborg's inception. I was one of the very earliest posters, and made that my home for a long time.

I got a history...and while i'm not making a personal attack at you,i can see why Chop is getting so frustrated with you.

You have no real life Buell expiernces. Riding with your frinds who own Buells doesn't make you an expert. Its like a virgin giving another virgin sexual advice because he watched a movie in Sex Ed class.

Chop has been there and done that, which is alot more than you can say.

He says he likes the brand. Will go to Buell events. Support the racing effort.

You seem intelligent, and i just don't understand why can't grasp that Chop is not a Buell hater. Just voicing his opinion.

Hey, you may like Blondes, and Chop may like brunettes, and vice versa, but you'd still bang the livin' chit out of a brunette if she gave you the chance.

It's ok...you can ride something that may not be your first choice, and still like it...

XLCR,

You might have to change your handle to "Bird Shot". Everytime you post, you get three or four in return.

Take a deep breath....and come on back.

I enjoy BadWeb,Sacborg,Sporttwin and other motorcycle boards.BadWeb is the best when you want to talk mods and tech.I will say from what I have noticed, when a thread is started about another brand of bike, the bike either gets bashed or it is said that they copy things from Buell.I was bashed for stating that 600 RR's are better race bikes than XB's.I was called a Poser, even though I have 29000 miles on my XB.I was also bashed because I stated that the Buells in FX were more modified than the 600's and when I posted rules from FX I was bashed again.I have a Buell but I would love to have a Busa along with several other bikes, does this make me a Buell hater? It's really simple,if you don't like the board, don't visit it,then you won't see anything that upsets you.

XLCR reminds me of Vizzini.

Never challenge me in history when DEATH is on the line!

From the Spanish Inquisition to WWII to Babylon and all with no point.

P.S. Your ranking of Chennault is incorrect. He was not General fo the Chinese Air Force, althoug the Chinese did bestow the rank of General on him. If you're gonna get pissy about being a history buff, be sure to get it right.

My son is too young for SacBORG. He's also too young for BadWeb. What's your point?

My Dad's not into it. He's never been about pissing matches.

Joe (Cochise),
I got lost and ended up here. What a bummer.

Snail Man,
"...you ever ride a Hayabusa? I have put 25K miles on two of them..."
That reminds me of a peculiar recurring dream I have where I'm concurrently having to pilot two motorcycles. Pretty sure it could be done. I ain't anxious to try it though. Wonder what it means. Plenty of fodder for the gallery there I'm sure.

Speaking of peculiar, I here tell that Oregon is just declared it fine and dandy to do "the nasty" in public on account of the state judiciary figures that to not allow folks to do "the nasty" in public would infringe upon their right to express themselves.

My question is... since when did the Oregon judiciary start taking policy queues from SacBORG, and if that continues unabated, what effect on the population there as a whole do you foresee? Specifically, how will this affect the lumber and fishing industries?

Jon,what makes me a troll.I guess because I don't take the Buell mantra hook, line and sinker.Let me repeat Jon,I HAVE A 2003 XB9S WITH 29,000 MILES,I guess that makes me a poser and a troll, because I don't drink the Kool-aid,I know my bikes limitations and like it anyway,no remorse for my choice,I have had a few problems with my bike mostly because of bad dealer service.I like many many other bikes, but I like my XB the best because it is mine.So Jon,I guess I'll just keep trolling. If I was a troll, the fishing is great on this board, fish in a barrel.

Sorry to hear you didn't have a chance to go land speed racing this year. Hope you can make MotoGP weekend at Laguna Seca next Summer.
