oh that must be it...

I hope this isn't the start of a long winter full of whining threads... Both sides should take the high road and agree to disagree.

As mostly a lurker and observer I see it this way...

BadWeB is the country club with rules and regs both written and unwritten sometimes to the point of being painfully politically correct.

SacBORG is an outpost saloon where everyone carries a gun and everyone else knows it. It kinda regulates itself that way.

While I mostly post here I have to say SacBORG is the place I prefer to drink my whiskey. No surprises.

Just because you don't like this thread doesn't mean it should stop.
It will die out on it's own when it's ready.

M2Me -- as an ex-regulator, I can tellyou that, with extremely few exceptions, posts are not deleted, threads are not deep-sixed, and posters are not banned without a number of things taking place first:
1 long, drawn out, hand-wringing discussions among the reguilators regarding the need/desire/and righteousness of taking the action
2 a number of communications to said poster regarding their posts -- or, a number of communication attempts, as these folks sometimes do not respond to direct commo (while the internet may be the real world, as stated above, there are still a large number of internet small people acting like big dogs on line, as there is no perceived cause and affect in the virtual world)
3 pretty near unanimous agreement among the regulators on said action --

there are, as with any system (specially one that involves humans) exceptions to this described course, but I think it works pretty well, and the exceptions are very few

all this, of course, means little or nothing if you were impacted by one of the exceptions, I imagine ;-}

Wrong, John- My posts are edited frequently by the admins of this board. Right on this very thread you'll see a psot or two of mine that wer edited by Admins...which, incidentally, I have no problem with, and I've made that abundantly clear to the admins. I appreciate the surgical excisions of anything 'offthe spool' i might have said, which still keep the points of my posts (when they actually have any) intact

And that's why the boards complement each other, in a way.

Vik, you are the very soul of reason.

The posts aren't edited. They are deleted. Just the threads aren't locked. The people writing the posts are also locked out, banned from the board. This happens not just when things run off the spool or the fight is getting ugly. It also happens because someone is expressing a point of view that doesn't jive with the custodians.

Sorry, M2ME, but that's just not accurate. See Bomber's and Tramp's posts above. They are more correct. Offensive posts are rarely deleted, they are usually removed from public view and reviewed by the custodians as a group. I rarely edit offensive posts, other custodians may do some of that.

Regarding the political stuff, you were around here during the last US presidential campaign, and I'm sure you remember the unpleasantness that came from some of those discussions. If I remember correctly, BWB implemented a "no political discussions" policy at about that time, in the interest of maintaining civility and decorum.

ACCURATE

>>>.Offensive posts are rarely deleted
That's accurate as well. Back when I was a moderator, I generally either "edited" out foul language, racist language or just plain patently offensive stuff that didn't serve to advance the instant discussion.

There were only two things I would, without hesitation, delete a post for.

I have joined the ranks of "former moderators" and still enjoy, although much less frequently reading badweb. My personal choice of vendors to use to work on my personal bike went awry of board sponsorship and it's easier to be a passenger than a pilot. It also prevents potential conflicts with evolving commercial interests.

Badweb is still one of the finest places to go for ACCURATE information on the internet.

Vik and Chop,

I do recall Vik edited a post in which a certain young military man - who was having a tough go with his M2 at the time - went postal on the brand and said some very questionable things about Erik's origin of birth.

And the members backed you guys up - he had gratuitously and blatantly crossed over even the perceived SacBorg's Buell Hater's imaginary line.

said "young 'military' man" is taken with a more than ample heaping of salt on the other 2 buell boards, as well.
rears his hot rear-echelon head in frequent, strident bursts ... no harm, no foul... was banned from "another" board and reinstated....

SacBORG is an outpost saloon

That's a good analogy, but I think of Badweb more like home just because I'm comfortable and familiar with it and know a LOT of the folks here !!

But I like going to the saloon sometimes, being cooped up at home 24/7 would be awful. I don't post much over there but that's because I don't know a lot of the folks.

I think Sacborg has it's place, it's fun and I go there but like any saloon if you go 24/7 eventually you have a problem and acting that way all the time will get you into trouble if you're not careful !! I spend most of my time at home and venture out on occasion to keep my life exciting !!

SO.....Just out of curiosity Chop, what are your criteria for buying another Buell? What would it have to be? You say it's odd that I don't own a Buell, but how about a guy that runs a Buell board and doesn't own a Buell? Now that's weird!

So you say you'll buy one if they build what you want. Let me guess, all it has to do is be faster than a Hayabusa and cheaper than an SV650. Or maybe your easy and willing to accept one that's as fast as a Gixxer1000 for the same price. Of course we all know that will never happen.

Or maybe you are waiting for them to make one that's reliable! (where have we heard this before?)

I'll bet $50 you will never own another running Buell.

Xlcr,

You just don't get it and it sounds like you're unwilling to.

Chop's favorite ride, his FZ1, is slower than a Hayabusa, cost more than an SV and costs as much as a GSXR1000, yet is not as fast.

Vik

P.S. He was looking at an S1W last weekend.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Havent you read anything? Dont you get it?

I used to own a Buell
Found a bike I liked better
kept the Buell until I needed the space/$
Sold it

I'm still a fan of the brand.
I support Buell at every turn
I just cant afford to keep two bikes that fill the same roll.

not weird at all that I run a Buell Board. I used to own one, and am still a fan of the brand.

What is so hard to understand about that?

and being a fan does NOT mean that I HAVE to think that Buells are the #1 Bestest motorcycle EVER in every single aspect of motorcycling.

Been saying that from the begining.

But you dont seem to get it.

When will I have another Buell?
Who the hell knows...
When I have the spare $ or space to keep one?
When I can afford to race one?
When I find a bitchin deal on a dailed in monster engined S1W? (hmmmm, where would one of those be?)
When I ride a buell that I have to buy on the spot, I'll buy it.
(like when I bought my DRZ-400, rode it, loved it, bought it on the spot. And no its not as fast as a Hayabusa, or a Gixxer 1000, and it cost me more than an SV)

you may keep your $50 for a long time, or you may have to cough it up this weekend (nice S1W anyone?)

I told you you would fall back on your rhetoric, and you did. You still want to put me in the "Sold it and will NEVER own another" category.

You cant see past yer own whacko screwed up way of thinking that there are people out there than can own a bike or not own it, and not hav to hate it or love it.

It has nothing to do with "reliability".. where do you keep coming up with this random carp? where did I EVER say anything about Buells and reliability?

you seem to have this script playing in your head and when faced with a situation that doesnt fit it, all you can do is fall back on it and keep repeating it as you rock back and forth in the corner...
"... he HAS to hate Buells, thats its, he HAS to hate Buells..."

Its sad really.

just as sad as the paranoid rantings you post and say on a regular basis.

"...look at THEM, all they do is troll message boards and bad-mouth Buell, I bet they dont even OWN a Buell..."

Well, XLCR, it seems that all you do is troll message boards screaming about how good Buell is, bad mouthing anyone who says anything but Buell is the Bestest EVER, and you dont even own a Buell, or by yer own admission, even own a modern motorcycle.

in my defense... it WAS my first time out on that SV, and Sears is my worst track, and her best... but she still is getting derned fast.

When did I ever say Buell makes the best bike? In fact, I don't remember saying anything of the sort. I did post once here talking about how the Long chassis will probably handle better, and I certainly think all of those great British riders are entitled to their opinion.

I think you are the one reading from a script here, not me. I'm perfectly aware that Japan makes great motorcycles at subsidized prices that no one else can compete with. It's just that I find them boring.

Now, my wife is a true Buell hater. As soon as the S2 was gone, she filled the spot with her new R1. I am not even allowed to ride it, only wash it. Has threaten dismemberment if I even think about another Buell...

BTW, went over to Sac and looked at my poll. A few,(what, maybe half a dozen?) happy tuber owners over there, VERY few XB owners, and a lot of guys that make up 'here's MY excuse' categories. It just re-enforces my opinion that Sac has a limited shelf life as the tubers recede into history, and in a few years it will look like a relic from the 20th century. That or give up pretending to be a Buell board entirely.

Went to the store, all excited because it said something about t-shirts and hats, and it's so hard to find Buell stuff around here.....

HAH! I should have known better. All they sell is stuff that says SACborg. You call it a Buell site and not a single thing in there that says Buell on it. And where do the profits from those go?

Gosh, there sure are a lot of posts bad-mouthing Badweb over there. I guess there's no reason to feel bad about this thread.

And good old two-face Dyna, I've sure noticed that he takes a whole different tone over here than he does there, and when I rode him so hard at CF. I like his friend dbird, has some funny posts. I also noticed he was threatened with being edited when he tried to 'tell it like it is'. So much for freedom of opinion at SAC.

you wont see the $ SacBorgers put into Buell racing efforts
you wont see the support SacBorgers put into Buell events
you wont see the rides we help organize for BRAG
you wont see the personal friendships that dont depend on a brand of motorcycle

I'll sum them up for you....

If you ever owned a Buell and sold it, you HATE Buells

If you have never owned a Buell, you HATE Buells
(yourself excluded of course)

If you ever say anything that is remotely not 100% positive about Buells, you hate Buells

If you post on any board other than BadWeb, you hate Buells

If you ride anything but a Buell, you hate Buells
(yourself excluded of course)

ok, we get it....
save us from any more of it please.
