hey, hey, hey... ease up on the Vovlo !!! : D

since this thread has gone from motorcycles to world history to Oregon judiciary opinions....

it seems the only thing its missing is an opinion about Swedish cars. : D

I'm digging my 99 Volvo V70R AWD (just picked it up, 60k miles, and CLEAN). 250 hp, it scoots. I've got a track day scheduled with the Volvo club at T-Hill. It will be VERY interesting to drive on a track I normally race bikes on.

The R does have a noticable turbo lag. But once it gets spooled up the higher pressure turbo (higher than non-R models) does its work. Makes a cool, but quiet turbo whine sound when yer really in it. Handles pretty good stock too. My upper engine mount bushing is slightly torn, new firmer version is on the way. Should make launches a little cripser and turn in a little more definite.

all in all, its a pretty cool car. Stealth too. No one would expect a Volvo station wagon to come around their 350Z on the outside of a freeway on ramp.

p.s. I'm not saying the Volvo is "better" than the 350Z. I got to demo one of those last week, what a little beast that sucker is... wow.

Chop -- I too, loved my volvos -- there used to was a company (in oregon, if memory serves -- how's THAT for syzygy? {and how's syzygy for a Scrable word, I ask ya?}) name of IPD (again, if the stacks back there have been properly accessed) that really helped to wake up the 200 series lumps in my motorpool years ago -- they were realy q-ships! almost as good as a Checker Marathon with a big block init

no personal experience (from the inside) with the marque in years -- round the metro chicago area, though, they seem to act as hazards to navigation more often than not -- not a day goes by without some at least minimal avoidance drill caused by a suburban matronin a volvo -- less to do with the car than with the drivers, I'm sure

anyone know what Volvo means?

;-}

sorry CJ, now we are talking world history and Volvo's...

we'll try to change it up ever so often to keep ya interested. : D

Yep, IPD... www.ipdusa.com . I've turned over my visa to them, and they are doing rude things to it. But they send me cool Volvo parts in return. Stiffer sway bars, bitchin lighter discs for the brakes, on and on. If I do it up right, I can get 300+ hp out of my car with a pipe and chip. Dont know if I will do that though, it runs the boost WAY high. Cant be good for the longevity of the engine.

There is a guy here a work with a 240 wagon, with a 5.0 Mustang roller cam engine in it. Talk about stealth. Looks like a P.O.S. too. Bad paint, dog barrier in the back, so-so interior... but when it starts it... look out.

also check out swedespeed.com and vptuning.com .

Keeper, I like Blasts, XLCR must not think they are real Buells though.

Hey I got an idea... for every two Blast owners, that equals one XB owner... two cylinders and all.

I'll warn you, its a tough version of Latin, with some other flavors of language built in. No fair searching the net for it either.

You got the French influence right... and sorta part of the meaning....

Its a tough one. Its Middle Latin and French mixed.

it was very trendy in the 1200's-1300's to do up yer Clan's moto in Latin or French. The Galbraith's, those trendy ole Scot's, used both and blended them.

Chop -- as a fella who's dad's family is Sedish, and who's mom's family is Swedish/Scot (which makes me stubborn and hardheaded, both, I guess), the statement "Trendy Scots" makes little sense ;-}

so your family mottos is "I know in my Gut?" good one!

oh the irony. : D

No, the Galbraith Clan was not trendy.

Ill tempered bunch that hung out not too far from Sterling. Just close enough to cause trouble. Seems the only thing that would stop them from fighting with anyone that looked at them cross-eyed (including the King dejour) was to fine them. Cheap bastards, just like me, they listened to that.

No, I think my ancestors gave up on ruling the known world when they found out how much the monthly maint. fees would have been.

They then stuck to hanging out around the castle and visiting the distilery round the way...

remember that your own people once ruled most of europe, after arriving from somewhere east from whence later emerged slavs, and their language and culture predated the germanic tribes (including the angles from whom we inherited our own germanic tongue, 'angle-isch"; ), the romans, spanish, etc...

I didn't know that about the sex in public, does it have to be with your spouse? Is it o.k. to pick out a partner from the crowd?

I need to get more politicaly involved.

Tramp, are you predicting that George Michael be fixin to visit Oregon soon?

Snail,
LOL, The law of the land seems to be tending to err on the side of unabridged free will (free willy in this case? joker ), but if you want to live to fight another day, it might be advisable for you to honor the spousal commitment when in public view. ; ) I don't know about you, but I made the mistake of showing Michele how to use the 12 guage. Now that I'm not traveling abroad so much I'm rethinking that decision.

You know, something like this takes hold and the next thing you know doing the John Bobbit will be allowed as an act of free expression in Oregon too. I think that Mr. Bobbit's wife expressed herself very clearly as a matter of fact. Sure makes me shrivel when I think about it. crazy

What ARE you guys' talking about? I thought this thread was titled "compare and contrast"??? I've only posted a couple times here.I posted to the first page of this thread and expressed dissapointment in the long wait for ATC membership confirmation/packet.Well...that caught Cochise's attention and it seems a bunch of us ATC'ers got ours.I guess he was waiting on the complete contents( hats).I gots stickers, patch,a COOL TEE,and a membership card.Too bad my H-D dealer won't offer me 10% off parts/w my card. But my Ducati dealer DOES! My temporary BRAG card/membership got me a discount the last time i was buying Ducati parts. They tell me they support motorcycle clubs by offering the 10% off parts. And that was also a cool benefit of the small investment in ATC.Thank you Cochise!

between badweather bikers and ATC, I cover all the bases I need to regarding a rapid-fire, high-hit buell board overflowing with factory & engineer-backed knowledge and witty repartee(badweatherbikers)and an affordable member-controlled riding club/board with local charters & sweet discounts with various dealers/distributors (ATC).
It's very important to support the sponsors of this board. That's what keeps it going...The local dealer/distributor might be a decent cat, but I always consider Dave S., first...
My hat's off to both boards, man-

(920) 757- 1651...I DO know that he gives badweatherbikers and americanthunderbikers both the sweet discount, AND his place typically stocks most Buell items...and he knows what's what, so he's great with ordering, as well.
