Well, I was at the dealer today and talked to the marketing lady. She seems really wanting to start a BRAG group. So...

I need some help from the BRAG officers on here. What does it take to run the group? What do I need from the dealer? How can you run the group? Like a the HOG group or not? If not, how do you run yours?

I appriciate the help. If all goes well you'll have a new East Coast group.

Good for you!
a BRAG club can be a lot of fun.
A BRAG "can" be a real asset for a dealer

What does it take to run a BRAG chapter? Not really that much if you have several dedicated people to share the work. I really think it works best if at least one of those die hard Buell people work at the dealership. The more pull they have the better.

What do you need from the dealer? They have to agree to "sponsor" the group. Without the dealers blessing, you do not have a chapter.
In both clubs I have been involved with (director) the dealership had/has little involvement with the club and pretty much lets us run ourselves. This is good in my opinion.

How can you run the group? There are certain charter rules and guidelines available from BRAG to help you with this. Other than that, pretty much whatever you want to do within reason.

Like a HOG club? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Although there are some similarities between the groups they tend to attract different types of people, just like the bikes themselves do.

If not, how do you run yours?
I have not done the best job for the group in Appleton. It is hard for me to make the weekend rides because I go home to Iowa on the weekends. Others have had to fill in for me to lead rides(thanks to them).
There needs to be at least one person that kind of serves as the "fire" for the group. Gets others interested in riding, track days and other get togethers. This is where I feel I have let the Appleton club down to a certain degree.

Several clubs up here got together this spring and decided on the Sunday rides to Dundee. We all thought it was a good plan but it has not panned out. I think the last ride there were 2 people there. So not every good idea you have will work. Get used to that. Just keep trying and it will eventually work out.

Cataract2:

You run it on the KISS(keep it simple stuped) SYSTEM ... This means one meeting a month which is a ride to breakfast(& meeting) ...
NO DUES ... All you need from the DEALER is sponsorship ... Other rides as they come up ...

The Clubs motto is: "RIDE SAFE and HAVE FUN" ...
