As much as I like dirt riding, I would prefer something lower for sport touring than the new Uly. What has received less attention than the Uly is the new xb12S long. But it doesn't look like it would take much to graft a Uly tail section and bags onto a long to make a sport tourer that sits more like a street bike.

Just remember that the height the bags from the road on the Uly is HIGHER then it will be on the Long. Ground clearance will be affected. It has also been discussed in many of the early Uly threads when the bikes were first announced. As well as the tailsection, you would also need the rider/passenger peg bracket assembly if you intend to carry a passenger.

probably simpler/cheaper to lower a U than to graft that end section on to a 12Ss.

Either shorter fork/shock springs or a complete swap to use the 12Ss suspension.

Good observation José, have you been planning something?

I agree, the Uly, while a NICE bike, is too tall for a lot of folks. I sat on one yesterday, and *I* have to tip-toe on it. And I'm a tad of 6'. I like Jose's idea of just a lower set of forks, and different rear shock. While keeping the Uly's "normal" seat would be ideal IMHO.

"I sat on one yesterday"

Where? Private or dealership?????

(Why do I feel like lately I'm in a story of Goldilocks and the Three Buells? This one's too short, this one's too tall, this one just doesn't do it for me, still waiting for This One's Just Right!. ; ) )

Racine HD had one at the Boiler Room build off thingy. They had JUST got it in on Friday, so Hals may have one also. I'll check tonight.

MikeJ....Dave has a few in stock and a demo available. I rode it for about 20 miles on Saturday. At about 6'1" with a 34" inseam, I couldn't flat foot with my riding boots. But there was a new Badweb guy (Blackmojo) picking up his new Uly. He was conciderably shorter (maybe 5'8"; ) and had no troubles with the tall seat.

Anywho....if you're interested in a test ride, give Dave a shout.

Yep, figured he was going to get at least 90% of the Wisconsin shipments this year. ; ) I just want to test-sit one.

Going to try and make it up to Appleton for the Jerry visit/sendoff if our calender is clear on that day.
