Well, I'm here in NC and had a great day of riding except for the begining. We started out on Deal's Gap and well... I got bit. I'm ok. Going to be sore in the morning but overall I'll live. Bike has some cosmetic work needed but is ridable. I was taking a left hand curve and target fixated on the road and ended up in a ditch but was about to walk away.

Bike, well, bike needs new handlebars, tail for license plate, bar end, fly screen (going to Novus it and see if I get lucky), and I think the brackett that holds the speedo might have gotten bent. I'll be going over it with a fine tooth comb when I get home.

Now, I did not stop riding today though, I rode the Gap 3 more times and I SCRAPPED MY LEFT PEG!!! Oh yeah!!

Anyways, I will say this. Buy those frame pucks. They work, My left one has some scuffing on it. It saved me a lot!

BTW, can't wait to wake up in the morning...

Question for you guys. I stopped off at Knoxville Buell and they didn't have any parts in stock. How would Smoky Mountain Buell fair on that?

Buelliedan, it gives the bike caracter. Course, it comes with a big price tag. While I am pissed at myself for this happening. I will take it as a learning experience. I will repair the bike and can do so because I have lot's of leftover money from this vacation. I'm just glad it's still ridable. Thank You Mr. Buell.

What model bike did you crash? Next year we really need to get organized with a large group going at the same time and rent this place:

www.thetreetops.com

we could make it a really cheap deal if we got a big enough group to go in together. BUT NO CHILDREN PLEASE!!

I also left some skin in the area this year... actually a few miles south of the Dragon. Glad to hear you're ok.
A gathering would be cool. I was bummed I only saw two Buells the week I was there. I was outnumbered 4 to 1 by Aprilias at one point!
The Treetops were booked by Feb/Mar for the weekend we wanted, so I didn't get a chance to check it out. I believe the owner is adding on.
I can vouch that the Mountain Stream Home at Cabins to rent is better than it looks on the website. Unless they finally fixed the price on the web the price shown is not the true price though.

How about the place I'm staying at? http://www.ironhorsenc.com/

Good place and the people working there are really nice and helpful.

Anyways, I wrecked my XB9SX. It's fixable. I'll have some pictures up later when I get home. Like I said earlier. I'll need new handlebars, tail secton, fly screen, brackett behind fly screen (it's bent.) throttle cables, plastic oil cooler cover and I think that's it. Probably going to cost me in the range of $300 to $400 to fix. I do have insurance, but after the deductable it wouldn't be worth it. I'm leave the plastic front wheel cover and air scoop on. They have some rash but I think that will look pretty good in the end.

Anyways, I went and rode the Gap 2 more times today, got passed once because I was stuck behind some HD riders. sigh...

I did see a BMW GS with it's forks bent bad. Heard the rider wasn't in good shape. To top it off earilier today we had 2 riders collide out there. Must be a normal weekend here I guess.

I did get to meet an XB12R rider today out here. He lives just up the road from the Gap. Told him about the site and I hope he finds it. Day before I met another XB9SX rider and say an X1 and M2 at the store near the Gap. Buell riders are there.

I do vote for a big Buell meet there. We need to represent!

BTW, Reep, I crashed about 1 mile from the Gap lodge. I hate to say it, but I had just started out. Ok, so how many lashes for that?

I will say that Killboy maybe for a good shot of my leaning the hell out of the bike in the curve where they were at. I'm looking for the pics now.

Dana, you have to understand that if someone makes an event then it is their choice to say whether children can come or not as it is your choice if you wish to go or not. Try not to take offence to his no children rule, but sometimes it's nice to go to a get away where it's adults only. I think someone could expand on this better than I can, but this is off topic.

BTW, pain meds are good for sore bodies.... ugg... I rode today but I'm paying for it now. I think I got a minor sprain in my ankle...

Also good to know you can ride the bike, as said before it's a material thing, you're not. Ride safe man..

I set up Braggin' at the Dragon. So I guess there will be 2 events next year. People that want famlies with kids there and people that don't. No big deal to me. Isn't as easy to set up as you may think. Also Dan, next year, the in-laws with the twins won't be back, dare I say thank God. The Tree Tops has 3 different Units for rent, so people can pick and choose where to stay as well as other locations. I'd rather get as many people there as possible, kids or not. I will not set up a trip with a prejudice against someone that wants to make it a family trip, and possible their only one of the year. Dana, you know Dan. I don't think he ment disrespect. Just as I don't. If 2 trips are needed, so be it.
As for Pics, there won't be any posted from this weekend until probably Wednesday of next week.
Did ya check to see if Smoky Mountain H-D/Buell had the parts ya needed. Sorry about hijacking your post. But keep an eye out for Braggin' at the Dragon II, where ALL are welcomed.

with prior approval and higher prices. And lets be honest here. If 5 guys come by themselves would it be fair for someone else to bring his wife and kids and expect to share the same cabin with them? I'm not against children but sharing a cabin with them is not my bag. If you want to bring your kids then wouldn't you want a cabin to yourselves? That was my point.

Rickie d I'm not the one that should lighten up here.Cataract is this someones wedding???Gotta go my build off is today.Lots of people and children are more then welcome accompanied by an adult.

I'd share a Cabin with Dana and his Family and Heather, Jason and their Son, no problem. Would I with guys that I don't know or people coming by themselves. Hell no. That's the point of going somewhere like Tree Tops or Fontana Village. So people still do have a bit of time to themselves.
Tree Tops is high on the list, but I'm leaning towards Fontana because it has more to offer people with kids. But nowhere is out of the question. I'm not looking to cause trouble Dan and I know what you mean. But hey, you and Honu and your families are more than welcomed on any trip I'm planning. I wish we could have got together more than we did.

Catarac, did you ever get over to Smoky Mountain H-D?

Dana, in no way was I going after you. Just was pointing out another view. If I make an event and say no children then I would appriciate it if people would just understand and not attack me for it. Also if I made an event where I do allow children would I appriciate it if those who don't want them there to not attack me for it. This is a no win situation for the orginizer because you have both sides of the view.

Hmmm. Seems I'll need a new subframe. How much are those?

PS. Subframe's in the air right now. I'll test a new tail section before I make a final verdict on it.

I do need a new fly screen for the 9SX though. Mine was scratched to hell and well, it broke when I took it off because a bolt's head was fubered and I tried to twist it off. PM me if you have one for sale.

Here's the talie on what I need.

9SX handlebars
oil cooler scoop
Tail section
9sx bar end
Hand gaurd
fly screen
head light bracket
that bracket that holds the gauges

I hate how these types of wrecks tend to break tons of small crap.

Dana – I took the time to answer your questions and more. Even though it is kind of fun, I can't guarantee I will continue this playful banter.

“And many have kids Rickie.”
No doubt, me too! I like kids and actually started out in life as one…come to think of it, I still am from my parent’s perspective. Not sure what that has to do with your statement…”Ummm Dan I'll bring my Kids if I like. Its vacation and I kinda feel that its not your place to ask that. Thanks alot!!” He didn’t ask anything, merely informed you of someone else’s requirement. Hence my comment “Lighten up!”

You don't have to tell me about the people here.
Really, now it is all clear to me; I did not recognize you right off as an authority and communications expert! I am not sure I ever will, but at least I know how you feel about yourself.

I've met many from this board personally have you.???
Yes, even a few that no longer post; I may have even met you…not sure I want to know the point of that question!!!

Are you going to this event next year???
That depends if I am in the area of the event when it is scheduled.

Rocco, myself, and Griz have already started talks 2 weeks ago planning this.
I am sure you meant Rocco, Griz, and I…unless I misunderstood you and the order represents the organizational chart! Good for you, I hope you have a good time.

If you don't want to be there don't.
Thanks for the insightful advice; I have yet to show up where I decided not to be. My ability to determine what to do, and when to do it, has worked out very well for me; or maybe it is not skill at all and I am just plain lucky that way.
