I didn't find it but my salesman did. I stopped in the local dealer today to say Hi. My salesman wanted to show me something he spotted in HD's preview book for the dealer show. He said he has been able to spot new products in the book in years past, as the manufactuer usually slips up somewhere. Well right there on the page with Buell accessories is a picture of a Firebolt based bike wearing the Aluminum buckle guard thing. The difference is The bodywork looks black, its a B/W photo but a different color from the Blue bikes in B/W. This bike has TUBULAR handlebars!! and a little flyscreen like the M2. The clocks are similar to the firebolt and it definitely has the beam frame. Well so there you have it, the Sport touring XB is coming for SURE!

Well I don't think they would let me take home the book from the dealership to scan it. Maybe someone else here who does have more access to H/D's book for the upcoming dealer show can scan it. All I am reporting is what I saw in the photo, I have nothing to gain by making stuff up. Just trying to give those on the fence or hoping for a more upright seating positioned XB a little hope.

Bobby, let's just say that this sales person, who we'll call Jimmy, was heads up enough to spot something amiss in the aforementioned catalog. Do I believe that "Jimmy" is as psyched, into, or otherwise turned onto by Buell as you or I? Damn right I do! Is July 16th the correct date to anticipate?

Not sport touring. More along the lines of the already announced "X1 replacement." :)

For the risk of those who have NOT been here for the last 15 years, I'll state my thoughts again.

I PROMISE that Buell will be introducing NEW models for the next year. So will Lawn-Boy, Ford and Cessna.

It's the very nature of the beast....year to year folks seem amazed, like Buell is pulling one over on us.

I'll bet they'll be cool too....they always are.

I got a good look at the picture today. It is on page 1223 in the XB section of the dealer book. It has s-1 bars and a different tac and speedo. THey are both together like the XB9R but the tac is on the right side and bigger than the speedo. THe tac is background in white while the speedo is black. It has a wind screen like the X-1 or S-1 with the bubble on the right side. The triple tree looks like the old X-1 tops that hold the bars on. It has mirrors on the bars like old Buells. But looking at the picture it looks like the head light is going to be a double unit with lighting looking like it is from the new XB9R. (maybe like the Triumpth speed tripple)
THe color is black with chrome lettering. THe tank bra was also saying it is for all XB models. So was the tank bag. It looks like at least three models is going to use the XB frame setup.

I think he wears steel-toed dress shoes, so you'd have to step pretty hard to get a negative response.

Speaking of which, maybe I'll get a pair of those for my next plane trip.

I think someone posted a pic of the book/catalog in question earlier, but the plastic wrap was still on it. Don't think anyone wants to loose their communications channel by spilling the beans. In the mean time, based solely upon what has been posted here and only here, go get a new Firebolt and remove the fairing and replace it with an X1 flyscreen and handlebar assembly with the controls and mirrors attached.

For me, I'm waiting to see what the new Lawn Boy's look like.

Mike:

That was me and I posted a PICTURE of the Buell XB9R PARTS MANUAL with a HUGE compliment to the folks at Buell and Harley Davidson Technical Publications.

This...dear friends, is as it should be.

Okay, different book then. It is nice though when the internals get feedback on a job well done.

The photo (posted in the general section) raises more questions than it answers.

My first thought is that it may simply be illustrating aftermarket modifications available for the XB9R ( New air-box, bars, fairing etc.) People more familiar with the context of the catalog may be able to comment on this.

Assuming it is the new bike, what is it? One would expect a sport-tourer to have a larger fairing. A more powerful, aggresive bike would likely keep the small bars.

My best guess would be a less aggresive (less expensive?) variation with more standard seating position and features (a Buell Monster?).

Not a Monster, an X1, maybe with hard bag/touring bar options.

Less than a month wait to find out.

Elvis,

I think it is a new model. I don't think Buell would make an all-new set of gauges for the XB9R and sell them as accessories. The bike (from what I can tell) looks too integrated to not be a new model.

Looks like upside down forks, so probably not a Cyclone. What's with that headlight though, looks oddly shaped. Maybe cat eyes like the Firebolt, hope they don't do something too weird. Love the black though.

Thanks for posting the picture. I guess I termed it "Sport-Touring" as it has the handlebar for a more upright (Comfortable) seating position. I do have to say I find the position on the firebolt to be very comfortable as it is. It is leaps and bounds better than the 748.

José,

I would be tempted to say M2 rather than X1. I am guessing that while they are using styling similar to previous Buells, it looks like they are going for something that will bee much more of a "standard" than the XB9R. I am guessing that they will shoot for an $8000 list and try to capture some market between the Blast and Firebolt.

"... and try to capture some market between the Blast and Firebolt."

Or how about, capture the market not met by the Blast or Firebolt and lost by the discontinuance of the M2/S3T/X1 tube frame models. This thought had to be a consideration several years ago. Maintain current customer base, and bring in new customers as well.

I REALLY appreciate the bandwidth saving use of the \imagelink{pic URL here} tag, but note that since the original image is on the GDB, it will soon get wiped.

Here's my theory. LONG ago, when the firebolt was still in development, that was a mock up. As you remember, accessories were out months and months before the firebolt was.
