Not to add fuel to the fire as far as the DoD creds go...
Its no secret I am still active, right?
Anyway, at least in here in HR, and where I was before, having anything that marked you active, red or blue base stickers, Mil ID, etc, usually was WAY more trouble than it was worth.
Respected as a whole? Maybe it's because I am an area where there is more active Navy, than anywhere else inthe world? I dunno.
I know, that most of us, either cover our base stickers, or have them on a removeable tab, that promptly comes off once off base.... If only to minimize the b/s.
And yeah, its not just us younger guys/gals, or the sport crowd. Though, we do seem to see the majority of the hassle. Could be perspective though....

yep- save the pretty stcikers for "pass & decal", lest the townies treat you even more like a second-rate citizen..

Chase - You'll probably find yourself much more a part of a community once you get up to Brunswick. That is probably as close to a 100% pro-military community as you can find.
I served in the Norfolk area in the early 80's. That was not a great navy town then, I guess that has not gotten any better over the years.
I felt like I had stepped back in time 15-20 years or more when I moved here in 2001. And I don't mean that is a bad thing, it is a good thing.
I moved to Maine from the San Francisco Bay area. CA was my birthplace, home when I was not traveling in the military, and I had lived there continuously for the last 15 years before moving here.
But it changed a lot over the years and not all for the better. I don't miss living there a bit, I do miss people, things, and places.
Drop me an email when you get up here and a little settled. There is a lot to see and do up here.

jack- i definitely feel you on that west coast east coast thing.
in california, people refuse to believe that anyone would emigrate eastward...
but despite the denial, it happens very frequently.
i absolutely love the bay area, but i do get tired of a lot of the people (VERY rarely natives) really fast.
i'll always feel best in NY. |

Tramp... havent met any of the crew from the area that I know of.As for the big guy yeah very nice and personable, against all that you would think or hear. Also one of the most inteligent guys I've met. Sorry I missed the Chester P.D. ride I understand it went well. If I'm not mistaken there are other fund raisers for him as well as the New Windsor guy who died in a freak construction accident. |

Tramp - If North California was a state separate from South California, with the state line running East/West somewhere down around Soledad (we could share the prison with them), I would probably still live there. We could fix North California.

When I think back on it, I've been really lucky. I get caught doing something silly every few months. It usually either gets dropped or they hit me with something small. I must just be a swell guy 
Once I did get a reckless for nothing (went to court, no points, just a fine!), but I've also got off on a 15 over ticket when I was being a total jackass.
Just last week a friend and I were going 65MPH around a corner in a 25. The cop just watched us and didn't even give chase. |

The best thing to have to keep the cops from messing with you is CFS.
I have a buddy thats under CFS, the funniest time was when he drove over some grass to leave a driveway that was blocked by a LEO that had some one pulled over, he was ordered to back up(LEO put foot behind his tire)and didn't, then ordered to get out and didn't(He never does) at that point my friend needed to call 911 to report LEO "Out of controll" and that he needed a Supervisor to where he was.
Supervisor comes down, runs ID of my friend then hands it to original officer to give back to my friend, original officer protested and wouldn't, with all the usual throwing hands in air and stomping around. Just funny.
But not very practical for us mortals! |

In some places he would have gotten dragged out of car. Regardless of who he is,was or thinks he is it's blatantly disrespectfull to all LEO's. One day he may run into one of us who doesnt care and has plenty of time to get suspended. Now in that scenario what if the vehhicle he had pulled over had an armed individual in it and your friends antics got the cop shot or worse yet one of you two. Not too funny then. Guy has job to do and people want to bust their balls. Fact of the matter is if you want to screw around on the road dont cry about it when you get caught. |

No, No, its not like that, he is VERY respectful, he has always acted like a gentleman, always, it just was he was being set up to run over the LEOs foot for an assult charge, originally the direction everything was going was a MDoP (driving over lawn)then upped to an assult(running over foot) |

That type of thing just happened to me not even a month ago.
Going up a mountain pass I didn't know, with the sun in my eyes and gravel in the road I was taking it pretty easy. That and there was a lot of traffic.
A BMW bike and a Porche racing up the hill passed me.
Apparently they came around a corner to a nice officer sitting on the side of the road.
They both locked it down to slow down throwing me in the middle of both of them.
The cop then pulled up next to me and turned on his lights, then pulled up the other bike and blue lighted him, slid back behind the porche and pulled him over too.
When we all stopped I asked the cop why he pulled me over he said for 70mph in a 45. I disputed it and asked to see his radar, which he said he didn't lock it in. He gave me a 6pt ticket with a $120 fine and told me to settle it with the judge, which I plan to do in 2 weeks.
