Well, I made it. We got here on Wed. after a good 700 mile ride. Our millage went like this. Monday night, ~250 miles. Tues. ~600 miles. Wed. ~700 miles. Total on GPS is 1473 miles. Let me tell you, that GPS has been a life saver in a few spots where the maps didn't help. Namely back roads.

Now, for the riders. There are 4 of us. Me on the XB9SX. My brother on the 1996 HD Sportster 883. Father on his 2003 Dyna Wide Glide. Mother on her 2001 Dyna Low Rider.

Now, this trip did not go without some hitches and some tempers getting tested. The Sportster we bought used. So... We had some electrical gremlins that needed to be beaten down. In GA I noticed the head light on it going dim, out, bright, repeat. So, when we stopped for gas I told him about it, he know about it because the high beam indicator light was going on and off. Well, we were pressed for time to get through Atlanta so we pushed on-wards and figured we'd work on it when we stopped for the night. Well, that didn't quite happen. See, we were behind a bit because the HWY we took ended up taking a bit longer than expected. So... We stop at an Auto Zone to replace the light bulb thinking it came loose or was dying. Not. Turns out we had a rubbed wire and also a melted connection. Whoops. So, fixing that took about an hour due to checking for any other problems, we left with no high beam due to not feeling safe with it.

This would have been fine and dandy, but on the way through Nashville his tail light and one turn signal light went dead. To top it off I forgot to change out my shield and ended up getting off an exit that turned out to have a gas station 3 miles away from I24. That ended the night because tempers were ready to go.

Well, I helped him fix the lights that night. Turns out the break light and turn signal problem were from broken bulbs. The head light was from the rubbing and we fixed the high beam, sorta.

This was good until about Rockford. It was way to dim. So, we stopped off of I39 and fix it completely. Turns out we wired the bulb wrong. This wouldn't have been a problem in the first place had the connector not melted and crumbled in my brothers hand forcing us to guess on the wiring for the bulb. Ah well.

We made it fine though.

As for the Buell. I had 0 problems the whole way. Plus, my gas millage on the Interstate improved during this! Weird.

My parents bikes also did A OK over this. Only real problem was the Sportsters head light and dead bulb issue.

Sorry Dave, won't be here that long sadly. I was hoping to make it to Appleton but time won't allow it. I plan to make this trip again in a few years though so maybe then.
