Pup:

Probably, best guess

The xb9 does not have the valve o matic thingy in the pipe does it?
If you got it the only thing that is even close to "hacking" should be the tps signal connection

not to sure about the o2 interconnect
( hi per o2 option ) vs harness connect for the xb

as I understand it the techno software works with both bikes, just a shot in the dark but the electronics are likely about the same.

as long as you dont have to cut up the wiring harnesses It would be worth a try
as far as a map goes its all guess work unless you dyno it be careful here the pc3 can lean out the mix too

is there a reason to try that versus the "race" ecm?

some points of comparason for your reference
the tubers have these sensors
cam position ( xb has this -has to )
intake air temp ??
engine temp (probably has this) fan control
throttle position ( xb has this -has to )
o2 sensor ( xb has this )

sense injectors
sense coils
sense fuel pump
sense voltage

Xbs (some have a control valve)

Lonnie,

I recently installed a PCIII for a S3 on my XB9S. I had some problems, but it was caused by a faulty connector from the factory.

The next issue is finding a map for the XB9 with your ECM, intake, and exhaust combination. I have not found one for my set up: race ECM, Swiss-cheesed intake, and D&D muffler.

So, I'm to the point now that I am going to try and use the Technoresearch VDSTS software and its ability to record various parameters including O2 sensor voltage vs RPM to fine tune a map that I downloaded.

Once that is done, I think I'm going to be very happy with the results. Let me know if you have any questions; I've spent quite a bit of time on this.

Wow! That is a really good price! Can you score the four wire O2 sensor as well?

"Wow! That is a really good price!..."

I do regular "Buell" searches on eBay, I noticed that the K&N company is running auctions for some Buell stuff, including some PC's. They seem to list a new one every 7 days. The image in the current auction shows a PCII but the product number should narrow it down. Those PC's have a low starting price, no reserve, and a buy it now option well below the MSRP. All that can result in a real good deal if there is not much interest or bidding activity.

K&N mistakenly badged their X1 and S3 (maybe more) PCIII's as PCII's.

Also, feel good ordering one from these guys (e-bay seller: K&N Auctions). I bought one off e-bay new, in the box, sealed, and when I opened it up one of the connectors was broken. I e-mailed them and because it's a discontinued product they don't have warranty support any more.

So they sent me another one free. Now THAT'S customer service!

Oh, and hit a auto parts store and get the Bosch O2 sensor (part number 15716) - that's the equiv. of the DynoJet one...fits and works great, and costs about $43.

Cruisin, is that Bosch sensor a 4 wire sensor? Do you have to make any mods to the connector ends?

Yes, that's the 4 wire sensor. No mods necessary, plugs right into the PCIII connector.
