I have a good pair of water-proof boots that have Knox armor and have been great. When I walk from the parking garage to my office (four blocks) I feel like I'm wearing cowboy boots, though. They are solid black and get really hot. What I'm looking for is a race-style boot (protection and colors) that doesn't feel like a ski boot. I'm looking at Sidi B-One, but haven't tried them on yet. Anyone have a good boot to recommend? No combat boots, road warrior types, or short heights please. | ||

Yahoo, I have the b-ones. Super comfortable - they feel like slippers. Much better than my old motocross boots. Stiff sole, but good ankle articulation and supple leather. Replacable toe sliders (though on my XB, even cranked over hard, I haven't been draggin my toe much). The stiff sole does cause a bit of a "cowboy swagger" but that's pretty normal in any protective boot. If you really want to avoid that, get a pair of CruiserWorks boots (I can run in those but protection isn't as substantial as the Sidi's). I hesitate to post this (non-sponsor! I scrape my toes on an "R" with them tucked firmly into the cases, but with my heel on the peg as opposed to the ball of my foot. That's with Sportec M1's. I too like the Sidi's  . | ||

No combat boots, To bad, I live in my boots(12-18 hours depending on the day). I hit up the LEO/EMT supply stores for mine. They pass as dress shoes when needed since I only purchase the all leather, and they have kept even my screwed up ankles from any issues. It is getting harder to find the all leather tacticle styles but they are there and have always been worth every penny. | ||

You can get combat boots (the leather ones with the goos laces) up here at the swap meet Mikel. I think they're like $25 or something. He has jungle boots as well if you like those. A lot less ankle support but they keep your feet cool and dry. | ||

The Oxtar's look like excellent boots feature wise. I just can't stand that "moon boot" looking ribbed section on the front of the ankle. Just MO . | ||

I bought the Buell boots...lived in them on my 9 day bike trip...They kept my feet dry in some major down pours and weren't bad walking around in... | ||

I have been wearing Sidi On the Road boots. Long break in period, but after that extremely comfortable and waterproof. After 2yrs the soles are going smooth though. I am sending back next week for repair then I will know if I will recommend them further - since there do cost $250+ | ||

If money were no object, I really like the looks of the 2005 Teknic Speedstar boots....MMMMMMMmmmmmm. Talk about sweet looking! Unfortunately, money is a big freakin' object with a bad attitude, so I'm shopping for closeouts. www.newenough.com has the B-Ones for $159! | ||

How about WESCO's (West Coast Boot Co.)? Good sturdy leather, rebuild-able. My Chippewa's have held up nicely. I've gone thousands of miles in 'combat boots' leather and fabric....just can't get with the Vans...If I have to buy another pair of boots, I thinking the Aerostitch boots made by Sidi may get a nod... | ||

I've got a pair of the Aerostich Combat Touring boots and love them. They don't have the same protection as race boots etc, but are very comfortable, very weather resistant and you can wear them all day and they stay comfortable. I wore them for a month straight last summer on my cross continent trip and were great. The breakin period does take a bit with them, but after that they fit like a glove (boot?) I actually ordered a custom pair of Wescos about two months ago for my work boots and am awaiting their arrival. For all around boots, they are about the best you can buy. I'll keep on using the Combat Touring boots for riding most of the time though. Prior | ||

i got a pair of sturgis boots by weinbrenner, good tough boot. i've had road race boots by sidi and they fell apart. the sturgis boots are a bit clunky though | ||

tramp -- aerostich dot com carries the combat touring boots -- good rpoducts, good rpices, and a tongue in cheeck approach to life that will likely appeal to your delicate sensibilities rummor has it that the breakin on these boots exceeds that of new engine, but I have no direct experience my sympatex On-Roads from SIDI, like Gomo's, are great -- 100% waterproof, took a little bit to break in, but nice and comfy now -- I lurked in the weeds, like a dog, waiting for em to go on sale and got a slightly beter price -- they breath, too, a little, so they're not a hot as some others that have claimed to be waterproof, in my experience I wore my corcorans for years, till that fell aprat, but they offered little except excellent ankle support (which I need alot of) and a certain hard-corps silly person look -- I wore my OG jungle boots in very hot weather, intil I notices a hole worn through the outside toe, which explained the heat i felt there while up in the kettle -- they've been relagated to holy relic status, and live in the garage next my my old lineman's boots |
