This is a pure curiosity question. I was just curious to know if anyone else has any superstitions when they ride?

For example.. When i bought my first motorcycle my grandmother gave me a keychain w/ the poem "Footprints in the Sand", and i never ride w/o it. It seems every time i use my spare set something happens, i.e. wreck, stator goes out, or a couple years ago in August when that major power outage happened... I had 0 gas, and my spare set of keys, and no power for 40+ miles, no gas stations open.. BAD LUCK!

Your turn

SUPERSTITION? um only that if anything but rubber touches the road before an abrupt stop it is going to hurt.

Oh and my wife gave me one of those little bells too.

I'm not superstitious at all, not in the least, but..., I always put my left boot on before the right one, my left glove first on first, I always get on and off the bike on the left side, and I never put my helmet on the ground or on top of a bar.

You just can't be too careful these days.

i have a superstition about overly-friendly "Bikers" trying to catch raps with me when i'm near my scoot or at a bar....

I do everything I can to avoid seeing 66.6 or 666 on the odometer, I change between trip/clock/odometer if I see it coming up......

seriously...bad things happen when it shows that number, I'm just not taking that chance.

I have a bell that two of my friends gave me. I put my left glove on first because I don't really like Chihuahuas. I also always get on the bike from the left side but only because I've been riding for 22 years and it's just "the right thing to do".

all hail igor,, may his lucky feet, and motorcycle knowledge grant us all many a safe voyage...

Superstitious, I don't know. Same routine for starting my bike(s) for nearly 45 years, except that my old bikes were kickers. The glove, helmet and glasses thing it works for me.

I like the foot prints in the sand thing. A friend who is/was addicted to booze use that poem as his mantra, even had the foot prints tattooed on his shoulder. Unfortunately the last time I saw him he was still addicted, but alive.

Like someone said "It can't hurt".

Washing a bike on a road trip is BAD LUCK. Every time I have, I've gotten a flat or worse. I NEVER WASH MY BIKE till I return home. After my last 4200 mile mechanically uneventful road trip, I'm a firm believer. : )

Black -- that's the most frightneing thing I've read here, ever!

ya need a drink, or counselling, or a good long ride on your scoot (which, now that I think of it, are all pretty much equal, yes?)
