no, blame professional volleyball.
m1- ever realize that hemingway really never did any of the aforementioned?
don't get me wrong, i am an ardent admirer of his, (and, yes, i've read just about every deconstructive essay/text regarding papa, for better or worse)....it's just that if you haven't played the game, well......

Hemmingway and HSThompson have a great deal in common -- I once witnessed a near fistfight in a newsroom when the argument over which was the first particapative journalist

the answer, of course, is neither ;-}

welllllllllllllllllllllll.....
Hemingway DID actually serve with the Italian Red Cross before the US was involved in WWI, and later DID run a Q-ship around Cuba and the Keys.....
I know, personally, Angels who were active when HST "rode" with them. he was NOT the insider he portrayed himself to be, AND he propogated some nonsense about them, as well.
Two guys I know tell me that HST was tripping far too hard most of the time to have any handle on what was going on, and he was barely tolerated, at best.
Were hemingway around, these days, he'd have certainly
without a doubt
ride a buell...

Well, maybe he didn't, but I've done a few of them and it seems to ring true for me anyway ; ).

I haven't fought a Bull, but it looks hard ; ).

I've also tried to play Hockey (I can only turn left, so that was a no-go) and it's my second favorite game... second to Jiu-Jitsu, I played Soccer (liked that quite a bit, still do), I tried football in high-school but our principal was a Xitch and decided that because no girls signed up she should axe the program (just after a local business man paid for EVERYTHING...).

why do women who play golf get to tee off closer to the greens than men?
howzabout 'girl pushups' in the military?
or the fact that a girl GI doesn't have to get a crew-cut?
i'm all about equal rights, so let's FIX this thing!

"I haven't fought a Bull, but it looks hard ; )"

It's not as hard as it looks. They sever and wound key muscles in the shoulders/neck so the bull has trouble holding his head up. As it goes along, he is in shock from blood loss and severely fatigued. I'm not saying its easy, its more like slow controlled wounding until the animal is nearly defenseless and then killing it. I went to one bull fight in Spain in the early 70's, never again.

"I do empathize with your low perspective on the game. Fortunately for me, such a perspective is beneath me."

I'd take offense at this, Blake, but it is so artfully put that I can only applaud.

BTW: Baseball sucks too.

"The matador....the matador....me...me"

Well..since this thread has had the beejeebus hijacked out of it, I thought I'd throw an obscure quote for the hell of it.

Anyone recognize that?.... hint: from a movie....a character's dying words.

Ever spend 9 months developing and carrying a total human being(INSIDE YOUR OWN BODY)? Work 8 to 10 hours a day at your 'other' job while doing it? Produce the total living, breathing, human being into the world by enduring several hours of (beyond comprehension) labor out an orafice about 1/10th the size of the little person? Then upon birthing the whole other person, use your own body to nourish the human being to continue life?....ever tried that? If we are going to "fix this thing" let's fix it right.

In other words, I'll tee off further from the greens and probably lose.
I'll do manly pushups...eventually.
I'll get a crew cut if you will wear panty hose and high heels(oh, and a skirt for dress attire).

And you can produce, let's say ....a watermelon, out of your anus. I'll let you off easy on the feeding and nourishing gig.

When my wife was in labor with our first kid, she threw up all over me as I stood next to the bed. I was wearing shorts and the bits of noodle from the beef stroganoff we had for lunch dried on my leg hairs. My wife waved off drugs and took it like a woman (read tuff).

Mothers rock.

HST vs Hemmingway. Tough call. Anyone who could live through "Fear and Loathing et al" is a pretty zonkers SOB. But then again he never even got close to "The Ol' Man and the Sea." Too bad they both took the easy way out, lowered them both in my esteem.

Who told anyone they had to get a crew cut? I am retorting as to the requirements of the military. "Skirts won't vanish from the Navy, or from the other military branches. The Marine Corps and Air Force still require skirts for certain formal occasions. The Army said they're optional, but women must still maintain their military-issued skirts". I thought that is what you were talking about.

As to the child birthing...Physiological examples. Simple as that. Don't know if anyone mentioned to you that girls and boys are different. How come you can stand up when you pee?(Just assuming here)

What about the gal that races Formula 1...all the guys whining about how light she is.

I can guarantee you that I do not take lightly Motherhood(I birthed 2 babies with no drugs). Nor was I making any kind of excuse for anything. I just found your post a bit scewed and one sided. I was just trying to make it more equal}. I didn't even get into the pay issue.

P.S. This isn't real life Tramp...just the web. Relax.}

Okay...Okay...

"The matador...the matador...me...me" were the final words of Brig. General Warren Black in the cold war drama Fail Safe. The part was played by Dan O'Herlihy, who also played the likeable Grig in The Last Starfighter.

General Black had just bitten into a cyanide capsule after dropping an atomic bomb on New York...done at the President's [Henry Fonda] orders.... to prevent a full scale war with the Soviets after we mistakenly destroyed Moscow.

Any similarities to this thread or its participants is merely coincidental.

I've fought a Buell - it IS hard.

I fight bull at work everyday.

Pammy - I theorize that the guys who always stand up to pee are the ones that don't ever have to clean up after themselves.

Sunny sez that if I cleaned up after her, she could stand up to pee.

I for one have never been impressed by the splatter-spread around the commode.

Slaughter, us girls don't necessarily envy peeing standing up inside. The woods, port-o-let, snow...you get my drift.

Tramp, which one of us is backpeddling? For the record, I'm a Drama Queen, not a web rager.

my shrubbery grows more verdant with every leak i take...
no indoor weein' for trampsky, almost ever.

tell me your customs, slaughter, you white prince of the land beyond our humble shores, that i may go wee-wees into this "commode", too!

Belize, New Guinea, Australia, Fiji, Netherlands Antilles, plus sommat Mexico-ish. Caribbean waters have felt the sting of my territorial marking.

I'll stand to pee in the jungle, - but mammal pee can be an attractant to big fiddies with big teeeth so I really do kinda try to avoid peeing when there's sharks around.

We had the boat operator off Rabaul go chumming to keep about 7 black tip reef sharks under the boat after our morning dive and Sunny and I were the first over the side on the second dive and got about 20 minutes alone with the blacktips before the others came down and scared them off. Got some photos but since I do all my own processing, I screwed up most of the shots on that roll of film but got a couple pics - somewhere.

i think he'd knock tom cruise off her couch...l. ron hubbard would then challenge george steinbrenner to a knockdown bout, wearing the colours of papa hemingway, while stein would be in the gonzo journalistic trunks, staggering doiwn to the ring to the weird chords of "gimme shelter" crackling oiver the speakers at ebbet's field....
papa would enter in a matador's cape to "The Sandpipers'" Guantanamera, in deferenc eto his "finca Vigia" days above the azure port of Mariel, long before the birth of his second granddaughter ... but I hijack while I hijack while I hijack....

Screwed up the chemicals when processing the slides but here's one. Used 35mm lens so that puts the near one about 8 feet away:

Two Blacktip Reef Sharks
This was a day out of Rabaul, Papua New Guinea.
