Can somebody give me brief run-down of motorcycle racing? Here is the situation: I enjoyed watching Superbike racing years ago. Now, I don't have cable, satellite or broadband internet access, but would like to watch some bike races. I have a buddy with TiVo and satellite that will burn DVD's for me, if I tell him what to get. I just don't know what is currently available. What I like is what used to be called Superbike racing (think Eddie Lawson on the green Kawa), and of course, anything with Buells running in it. Thanks, Bill |

What races feature Buell riders? I would like to see some Buells run but I don't know what events or classes to watch for. |

In order of "prestige" all of these are shown on SpeedTV. Just program the TIVO to record motorcycle racing by channel (SpeedTV) and it should catch the following: 1. MotoGP - purpose built 990cc four stroke factory designed/built/suppported bikes, supporting classes include 250 and 125cc two stroke purpose built factory bikes. The 250 races are sometimes better than the MotoGP class, but the MotoGP class has four Americans (Hayden, Edwards, Roberts, Hopkins) racing in it so the interest is higher here I would think. The "big five" (Honda/Suzuki/Yamaha/Kawasaki/Ducati) all compete at this level. 2. World Superbike - Factory Supported "Production Based" 1000cc two/three/four cylinder race bikes. All on the same tire brand (Pirelli) keeps the racing very close. Ben Bostrom is the only American there at the moment. Supporting class World Supersport (600cc fours and Ducati 749's). The "big five" (Honda/Suzuki/Yamaha/Kawasaki/Ducati) all compete at this level in both classes. 3. AMA Superbike: The American Production based series, has four classes, two 1000cc based (Superbike/Superstock) and two 600cc based (Formula Extreme/Supersport). The "big five" (Honda/Suzuki/Yamaha/Kawasaki/Ducati) are split between the four classes, there is no class where they all compete head to head. Buells race in Formula Extreme. Supersport/Superstock are very limited in modifications, Superbike/FormulaExtreme are allowed much more freedom of modifications. The following are not televised, but if you ride over to Summit Point, WV you can see them live. (Highly Recommended) 4. Formula USA/CCS: the "alternative" to the AMA, more privateer based racing, features the THUNDERBIKE class which is loaded with Buells, SV's, Ducati's and the odd BMW's. check www.formulausa.com or www.ccsracing.com for schedules 5. WERA: more known for their endurance racing, Buells race in some of their classes. They just raced at Summit this past weekend. FUSA/CCS/WERA is where you will see a lot of the "up and coming" duking it out, before they jump to the AMA/World/MotoGP level. Worth attending & supporting.
