"(hmmm, this mud has a nice bouquet, and a pleasant finish with an oaky aftertaste)"

Sounds like a 2002 J.Lohr Merlot...

In any case... You are indeed correct that I stated both Chop and Vik's names in the beginning of that thread. It's not my fault they came over and decided to say "Oh, whatever, those guys are too optimistic etc, etc, etc...". They could have come in and simply said "Good for Buell... Now lets all just wait and see what's actually in the article." You see... Saying someone "is" an A^^Hole is a good deal different than saying that in your opinion you "think" they are an A^^hole. One you can get arrested for, one you can't. Would it have turned out any different? I don't know.

All I know is that I've got no trouble at all with someone thinking that the XB isn't the greatest handling bike there ever was. I just don't particularly care for people telling me that I'm wrong to think that it is. It really gauls me when they DO that... Then turn around and jump someone else's a^^ for telling them that their opinion is in-valid...

I don't owe anyone an apology. If you'd like to think of me as a littler man because of that, go right ahead ; ). I made a statement that was based on a conversation I had with both Alan and Vik a few months before... My tongue was firmly planted in my cheek when I said it. Maybe I should have added a wink? I don't believe I exactly insulted them or threatened to urinate on anyones grave or questioned their riding ability (much : )) or anything like that...

I pushed buttons? I had my buttons pushed, at the very least, AS WELL...

If I offended anyone... I will apologize as soon as I realize it. Maybe if you read the entire thread you'll notice I did once on the grounds that I MAY have offended someone.

Besides... Who makes YOU the champion of Chop, Vik or Cecil? If they think I owe them an apology I'm quite sure they'll say as much and if I agree, I'll give it.

Chop... Vik... Cecil... Do I owe you an apology or maybe just a beer if we're ever in the same place?

Oh, on the subject of Snail... Yeah, the comment was a little over the top and not really based in fact it seems.

As far as making a d^^^head comment... wait 'till tomorrow, maybe I'll have another one worked up : ).

Have a great day : ).

WOW!

Reg you ole internet scoundrel! You sure do generate lots of interest no matter what you write. joker

My answer to your question concerning the anonymous posting policy of BadWeb is that we have indeed vetted a select few anonymous posters, currently five. These are individuals who have at some point expressed an interest in participating on the board, but would be unable to so overtly. We've verified the validity of their requests. I personally scan every anonymous post and check it versus our approved list.

Yeah, sometimes an anony will join in on the banter, sometimes with a bit of emotion too, we're willing to support their ability to do so as they also provide much in the way of valuable information, information that we may not otherwise be privy to. Sometimes it may be a dealership employee, sometimes it may be someone else. Who knows who it may be.

I think the resentment arises from those who suspect that the anony posters are not truly valid. I promise you that I don't ever post anonymously, ever. Only those specifically approved are allowed to do so and those folks are all the real deal.

Now I get to go catch up on the "BIKE..." thread. I'm hesitant. : (

I do want to thank our other custodians. They are doing a great job. THANKS ALL!

That is the policy and it shall remain the policy.

Now that we have that out of the way, it's back to the BIKE thread. We must hurry, the magazine will be out soon.

Thanx, Blake.

Tramp...
Here's why it's important to me. I have been misquoted numerous times in print. On one occassion I discovered I had "endorsed" a product that I had never tried. And of course on the 'net.."Hey it's just the 'net, lighten up.. this has happened more times than I care to remember. Many of these misstates have bitten me in the butt. Usually no more than a nip, but still irritating. It usually takes the form of, "I understand said you (fill in the blank)." I then have to explain how, "No, I didn't say that etc."

Because of this, and the fact that I have been an editor, and now subject myself to a couple, I have a heightened awareness as to words and their meaning. Obsessive? Probably a bit so. But let me give you an example that recently appeared on this board: One of the Anons wrote that I was "delighted" with the seat on the Ulysses. That was incorrect; I never stated,or wrote anywhere that I was delighted with that bike's seat. The most bothersome aspect of that misquote was that it came from, I believe, an actual insider, one I spoke with in Denver during the press intro. When I review my history with Buell I can recall more than a few occassions wherein I was taken to task for having wrote something they didn't like, so I am particularly sensitive to quotes from them, about me.

"Get over it, Reg" might be a logical response from you. It ain't that simple, because misquotes have a way of gaining a life such as,"There's no way you can be objective with regard to Buell" and "You're in Harley's pocket." If I don't step on these ASAP I end up paying...sometimes literally...in the future.

So, yes, Anons bug me

trust me, reg- my posts were NOT aimed specifically at you.
not by a long shot.
...plus, you've been asked to provide some explanations, AND you were misquoted. I went through the sort of misquoting that you mention on another board where i romp, as well.
so who do you like for the series, this year?

Pammy,

You said nothing in the passive voice. I was refering to Court's "mistakes were made" comment.

Would you believe that I've been on a marathon con call? Do you really want me to call? If so, it will have to wait until tomorrow. I've got to jet home, meet Chop, clean the RV and get my homework done.

There several things I don't like about anonymous posts. This seems like as good a place as any to get them off my chest:

1 - Having a system where admins know the identity of anon posters puts moderators in a bad position. If an anon was sued for something they said here, their name could be subpeoned. Given the purpose of anon is to let people say things they are contractually bound to keep secret, this isn't a far fetched possibility.

2 - Inappropriate anon postings should be deleted, not outted. Otherwise, it's like you telling me something in confidence, and then me deciding you were wrong to ask.

3 - There is no point in having anon. It's trivial to create a new yahoo email account and register a new BWB profile, all without revealing your true name. This is at least as anonymous as the current system, but it seperates the different anonymous posters from each other, and allows them to establish credability (or lack of it) over time.

It's time to put this to rest.
Nothing new is being posted.
New views aren't being posted.
That being said, the same thing keeps getting posted.
It's time to accept the way things are here and move on.
If ya don't like it, there's always that little X in the upper right hand corner of your monitor.
Nuff said.

I work on the bike of a Yankees pitcher. Could that be why they are doing so badly this year?

My next door neighbor is a pitcher for the Reds.

I am sensing a trend. Reg, I was just in California...A's don't stand a chance.

OK, I'll admit it. I wrote the above anonymous post. I was just kidding! Posting as anonymous isn't really all that much fun!

BTW, Twins are leading 4-1 in the bottom of the 4th against the hapless Mariners!

I want to be called LORETTA

So, our hero - Brian finds himself at a meeting of the People's Front for the Liberation or Judea... or is it the Popular Front for the ... or was it the Judean Liberation Front...

I take you to the conversation of the conspirators:

FRANCIS:
Yeah. I think Judith's point of view is very valid, Reg, provided the Movement never forgets that it is the inalienable right of every man--
STAN:
Or woman.
FRANCIS:
Or woman... to rid himself--
STAN:
Or herself.
FRANCIS:
Or herself.
REG:
Agreed.
FRANCIS:
Thank you, brother.
STAN:
Or sister.
FRANCIS:
Or sister. Where was I?
REG:
I think you'd finished.
FRANCIS:
Oh. Right.
REG:
Furthermore, it is the birthright of every man--
STAN:
Or woman.
REG:
Why don't you shut up about women, Stan. You're putting us off.
STAN:
Women have a perfect right to play a part in our movement, Reg.
FRANCIS:
Why are you always on about women, Stan?
STAN:
I want to be one.
REG:
What?
STAN:
I want to be a woman. From now on, I want you all to call me 'Loretta'.
REG:
What?!
LORETTA:
It's my right as a man.
JUDITH:
Well, why do you want to be Loretta, Stan?
LORETTA:
I want to have babies.
REG:
You want to have babies?!
LORETTA:
It's every man's right to have babies if he wants them.
REG:
But... you can't have babies.
LORETTA:
Don't you oppress me.
REG:
I'm not oppressing you, Stan. You haven't got a womb! Where's the foetus going to gestate?! You going to keep it in a box?!
LORETTA:
[crying]
JUDITH:
Here! I-- I've got an idea. Suppose you agree that he can't actually have babies, not having a womb, which is nobody's fault, not even the Romans', but that he can have the right to have babies.
FRANCIS:
Good idea, Judith. We shall fight the oppressors for your right to have babies, brother. Sister. Sorry.
REG:
What's the point?
FRANCIS:
What?
REG:
What's the point of fighting for his right to have babies when he can't have babies?!
FRANCIS:
It is symbolic of our struggle against oppression.
