Just got some exciting news. I have been speaking with Mr. Nugent's personal assistant over the last month or so about getting a press pass to shoot some pix's of his show that is taking place tomorrow night in Vancouver, WA. Just got confirmation that it is a go for the first 3 songs (standard for any concert shoot). WAY COOL! (Message edited by pdxs3t on August 08, 2005) |

Hot Damn.. Ok, now I'm jealous.. I've been a fan for ..uh.. decades.. and over the years have seen him many times.. While I will say it's sad that he's 'slowed down' with age.. While he only moves around like a 20 year old 'current' rocker on stage now, he used to make the energizer bunny on speed look like it was moving in slow motion.. Terrible Ted, the MotorCity Mad Man had to be the BEST strictly live, no props show in the business.. That and he's kind of fun to listen too when he's not playing.. hehehehe.. uh.. OK, can't wait to see some of those shots.. Later, |

No props?!?! What about the time he came out at the "Whiplash Bash" new years eve at Cobo Hall in Detroit on TOP of his zebra stripe painted bronco? I attended 4 "bash" shows in a row and every year was great. Even the year I got an M80 exploded RIGHT next to me at the sound board and the sound guy whiped out back stage passes for me to "sooth" it over. Fun night that was. |

Damn! In the early shows I saw him, it was him, a guitar.. a mike stand(sorely abused) and the man doing such gyrations, flips, leaps and other things while NOT MISSING A NOTE that floored me.. Oh.. and his trademark 'Coon Tail' hanging from the back of his pants. The Bronco, bow and arrow and what not came later.. I guess leaping off a stack of Marshalls, over a drum set/riser and to the stage while playing a lead riff could take it's toll on anyone sooner or later.. Damn, good memories.. I loved every show of his I've ever seen.. |

I met Terrible Ted while waiting in line for a concert (Damn Yankees w/ Jackyl) 13 years ago or so. He was handing out his whackmaster catalogs (bow hunting supplies) ,signing autographs, and just generally talking with people and having a good time with the people waiting out front. It was pretty cool, and completely unexpected. I was impressed with how personable he was. He wasn't at all what you expect a rock star to be. |

Ted is not your typical "rock star" at all, one of the reason's I enjoy his music. Sure was weird seeing him with the Damn Yankee's though, still rocked, it was just weird. |

Not a real big fan of his music, but I love his books. He can make even a recipe book a pulpit for his NRA and hunting rants, plus a wink at the ladies. |

PD -- great shots, bud -- you can tell the band was enjoying themselves, which is, of course, the primary ingrediment for a good show -- DJ -- a guy his age? mumblemumble ;-} |

I remember hearing that right before the first Gulf War started (when we were taking Kuwait back from Iraq) that an Army unit set up a MASSIVE P.A. system at the Kuwait border and played "Stranglehold" at high volume for ~24 hours straight. I imagine that was a pretty good psychological warfare technique. |

Thanks to all who have taken the time to check the pix's out. It was a great time, wish I could have stayed longer then 3 songs up front. Would have loved to put my 50mm f/1.8 lens to work with the stage lights. You can check out a few more pix's here http://www.digitalphotonorthwest.com/bands/tednugent/tednugent.html |

You got a big family. When I lived in Kodiak Alaska I had friends that used to hunt with him. He's a nut for that sort of thing. Used to go Bow hunting for bear I'm told. |
