The Ducati beer glass spilled some on the pilot, causing an embarrassing wet spot. Later the same pilot chipped his tooth on the rim of the ill handling glass. By contrast, the Buell beer glass handled flawlessly, taking on not only the Corona, but two lime wedges as well. The salt around the rim was an unexpected bonus. Thanks, Erik. Easy, boys...  | ||

The test is flawed! All the other glasses in the test were pint sized full measures. The Buell glass by contrast is the size of a lightweight competition glass more likely found in top level spirit drinking bouts. Based on mass centralization keeping the glasses weight down low by use of a thick base and straight streamlined sides to aid liquid dynamic flow (LDF) it's easy to understand the engineering principles bestowed upon this glass by creator and founder of Buell Glass Company (BGC) Ernest Buell. If one studies the traditional British beer glass you will notice the bulge about one inch below the rim. The bulge is there to offer the pilot more grip but it places the centre of gravity higher up. The same is true of the traditional British larger glass. Commonly referred to as the 'tulip' glass because of its shape it is also designed to give more grip. The LDF has in both traditional British beer glasses been sacrificed somewhat in favour of grip. The Buell glass may favour well in feel due to its lightweight and small size, something all the testers agreed upon, but when it came down to truly getting arseholed over a few pints the Buell glass just didn't hold enough ale forcing the pilot to make several visits more to the bar than the traditional beer glass pilots. That said, all testers agreed in their drunken stupor that getting arseholed by whatever glass was.....kiik hik..... fun as the hik....... end up........... result was always the same.....hik.....hick...hick up.....hikc pup .....up What do Italian's know about drinking beer? About as much as they do about making drinking vestibules. Ducati have long since given up their ventures into the 'bar culture' market - having suffered at the hands of the British and Japanese manufacturers - they sold their glass manufacturing plants to the Texas Pacific Group (TPG) in 1998, but it has to be said, the Italian's, and in particular Ducati do make fine motorcycles. As of yet though no glass manufacturer to date has come up with a cure for a hangover - though Ernest Buell is rumoured to be working on a top secret project code named Allyousees. Rocket | ||

I don't know Jon...from the color that could easily be light beer. How does it handle w/ something a little stronger, say IPA or Extra Special Bitter? And from the lack of condensation on the glass exterior I'd further venture that the beverage itself is lukewarm and therefore not a fair comparison. For the money I'd have to go w/ a bright blue or red plastic go-cup. That's what all the bars in Montana use when they send beer out on the road. Do you have any idea how expensive the mod's are on a Buell glass? The go-cups only require a black magic marker and a few extra brain cells to create one of the most awesome beer glasses in any class. Thats a nice glass and everything. But, Where is the volume ! I want to be able to drink 16oz beers. And how about our friends down under. You can forget pouring A Fosters in one of those glasses. Now i`m sure it handles good, Buell glasses always have. But I want FACTORY volume ! how about A big bore glass. I know they can do it, Because I have seen some being used at my local watering hole. does anyone know where I can get this glass modified, so I can keep up with the Ducati glass in the power drink phase. Damn. I am never buying another Buell until it has a real motor. Why can't they put a VRod engine in the glass line? I know all the nook's and crannies of the factory and have seen the test mules. That stupid Ernest B. just wants to re-engineer everything for engineering's sake. I can't wait to see the math used to determine the "superior" handling of this Buell product. Whatever it is it will be flawed. And I hate it because it has "fuel in frame" and nobody else uses that technology so it must be bad. I could go on like this for ohhh like 7 or 8 pages and make sure the argument veers into personal attacks and religious rants. I will take a pass on this and future Buell Glass Company POS's. S1eric, Your rebuttal: A competent pilot can easily get 16 oz's out of a 12 oz glass. Volume is only a small part of the equation....handling sir...that's what's being measured here. | ||

Jon,  I test drove this Margarita 8 ouncer this afternoon. Notice the same contact patch as the Buell, but MUCH more grip on the base. Same mileage as the Buell but more efficient delivery with less calories. It is an acquired taste. It is ice-cooled rather than air cooled, for longer coolness. Notice the plastic fluid delivery mechanism. When is Ernest going to deliver one of those? He is from Milwaukee, he is NEVER going to do that! | ||
