Was a very fine morning...Met Mike at his house at 07:40 and we had a nice quick paced ride to Danbury. Met up with Trac95 and Niceharley at Marcus Dairy. Spent a while checkin eachothers rides out as well as some other bikes (2 other Buells...one missing a rider the other had the personality of a toilet seat). After hanging out talking and explaining our rides to curious individuals it was off we go.... And go we do..right out the gate Trac is 12 O'clock high down to the light (longest one I've ever done) LOL yeah O.K. Anyway nice ride down 84 to carmel and on to 301, decent ride nice long sweepers and ample room to stretch the bikes legs. Brief stop and it's off to Bear Mtn. nice flowing pace to the traffic circle then BAM!!. Nice Green Honda Accord decides it's a good idea to make a right hand turn from left lane right in front of Trac.. Long story short.. I get to see the highest endo ever done and a fellow rider go down. While Mike and Niceharley pick up Trac and the pieces I chase down the driver, who by the way "had no idea, is he ok?" W.T.F. get a$$hole back to scene and call the P.D. report filed blah blah blah. Driver suspended and appropriately ticketed. From the initial pics I took damage didn't seem so bad mostly cosmetic and the bars snapped. Little do we know and come to find out later that the frame is dented under the left puck sub frame bent bars broken windscreen scratched to hell as well as the other plastic. As for Trac... back ankle and pride a little banged up but walking slowly and somewhat upbeat. After a millenium the tow truck arrived thanks to Niceharley and the fine people at BRAG and off goes Trac and his ride. All in all it was a good day, in spite of all that happened...Bikes can be repaired and Trac will be back on two wheels in no time. Look at all the good chat time we had on the grass.. Hell I might even change my name to Rand McNally if one more person asks me for directions. Be safe guys and see ya on the 20th if not sooner.

Honey I'm goin to be late.

you're right...bikes can be fixed. As long as the people are ok, we'll be back on 2 wheels having fun in no time

WOW....glad he's okay...damn good thing the car wasn't 0.5 seconds slower or it'd been over him, not in front of him.

How, pray tell, does a car get t-boned and the driver not know it?

Wow.

Yeah, I had an old guy in a backhoe turn right from the left lane right in front of me yesterday. He never even looked. I hadn't a clue since I figured he was going to turn left.
Luckily the 50 year-old reflexes and good brakes kept me from hitting him.

As for taking care of Rich... It was primarily Mike and Jeff..( mikexlr and Nice harleystuff). I broke into work mode and made sure all the reports and summons were dealt accordingly as the Police that handled the incident had no clue and assumed it was the "bikers" fault at first. All worked out well. Insurance wise I'm thinkin they will total it.. frame and subframe a tad expensive I think.

what a day!
i watched it happen from the mirror on my bike. trac95 almost rode out a totally vertical stoppie, unfortunately gravity has a way of winning most times. it's interesting to see different personalities emerge under stressful events, the cager attempted to flee the scene not realizing that officer wyatt erp was already on him, hammer had the car corralled within a hundred feet of the accident and brought him back to the "scene" immediately. the long arm of the law! niceharley was the immediate professional of the group instantly on the phone with brag/hog attempting to locate assistance for a downed rider a hundred miles from home. he worked the phone for almost 3 hours finally locating a wrecker willing to run the distance. last but not least, trac95, even while in shock was gracious to the cager who just trashed his ride never once uttering even a single curse at the "dope", instead treating the "enemy" with respect (if old wyatt had his way the cager would have been hung at high noon, along with about 50 other drivers that seemed to break every traffic code on the books within 50 ft from us) hammer (rand mcnally) was kept busy moonlighting as the official rockland/orange information center dealing out direction in at least 10 languages (no, you can't get there from here, you want to go wheeere...) in all it was a bad day for one very bent lightning (the pics don't show it, it's worse than it looks) but a good day to be a bueller, future riding buddies created in an instant. hope to see everyone in two weeks at the danbury buell day. for those of you who don't know rod pink, the guy running it he is an amazing rider (retired pro racer) with a super cool disposition and an ability to explain the intricacies of going fast safely like few in the business. it will be well worth your time to attend! buell dealers willing to go to this type of length MUST be supported.

"Police that handled the incident had no clue and assumed it was the "bikers" "
been there and done that( got side swiped ) Sad aint it,

"call the P.D. report filed blah blah blah. Driver suspended and appropriately ticketed."

when you say "suspended" hope that the cager gets his licence pulled, for a few days might wake him up.

Glad your allright Trac95 (Rich?) heal fast

First of all, I'm glad everyone's OK. Broken machinery heals quickly, people don't.

Second, and off-topic, where did Trac's handlebar come from? I've been looking for a bar just like that for another project.

First of all, I want to give a big thanks to Jeff,Rich,Mike, and I forgot his name( Ex-fire dept guy, He offered his P-pad but I opted for the tow truck!) You guys pulled together and really helped me out! Thanks for keeping my spirits up, making phone calls, keeping the paper work strait and helping me load my beloved machine on the flatbed. I also want to mention how nice it was for Rich to offer his girlfriends garage. That might not have been a bad idea considering the tow bill was four hundred dollars! My BRAG membership saved me a hundred bucks!

I went to the hospital last night but they were to crowded. I came home and this morning, after dropping the dog off for surgery, to remove part of a stuffed animal. I went to the Doc. They X-rayed my ankle. They said it did'nt look to bad. A specialist is going to look at it to make sure everything is cool. They did'nt do much for my back. The muscles are tightening up and it's getting uncomfortable.

What a pain in the this is! I'm getting ready to call the cagers insurance co. to do battle. Then I have to call Jeff. He said to call so they can send a truck out to bring her to the shop to start the estimate. I hope my bike is covered or replaced. I hope I don't get If I miss the Buell day, I'm going to sue for pain and suffering! Guess I'll have to attend on my wifes Shadow, NOT!!

I thought about giving the guy who hit me an ear full but he was genuinely sorry. To be perfectly honest with you, this is trivial compared to what our solders are going thru. I can't stop thinking of them and what they're doing for us. So, I gave the guy a break. He has enough to deal with.

I'll keep you all posted on the outcome. Thanks again for all the help and support. I'll ride again!
