I just had the oportunity to utilize the BRAG roadside service option and I'm here to tell you all that it is a wonderful thing. I had started to wonder what the point in belonging to BRAG was, since I live 1,000 miles from the closest BRAG group. Then yesterday I'm pulling onto a remote highway in eastern MT, after a 40-mile round trip on gravel, and my belt snappped (brand-new belt, too < 2,500 miles on it!) I am in the middle of nowhere, nothing around, not even cell coverage. I and moan for a few minutes, then hike 1/4 mile to the top of the hill, call my wife (not home), and finally remember the BRAG roadside coverage and give them a call. Less than an hour later a tow truck w/ a ramp pulls up beside me, dispatched from Glasgow ~40 miles away. They haul me another 30 miles into Wolf Point, drop me at the motel and go on their merry way. All for the whopping price of $0. That's right nothing, nada, zilch. That BRAG membership is the best $25 (or is it $35?) I ever spent. Rob |

Rek, Thanks for the info. I'm kind of in the same situation (~300 miles to the nearest BRAG group). I'd kind of wondered if they'd REALLY send a tow truck to the middle of nowhere if I needed one; it's nice to know that they will. |

If only I renew my Brag membership. and if my wife has trouble on her Buell, Or if I have trouble on her Buell, Or we have trouble together..... what I'm asking is, do they care (or check) which bike or which rider has trouble? |

They asked about bike info, which is fine by me. I don't know if you can get a better deal for the price, or better service. I mean why try to scam on such a good deal? They called a tow company, then called back to let me know what was going on. A couple hours later they called again to make sure every little thing went a-okay. All in all it took a potentially horrible experience and made it much better. Although I have to admit my company helped a lot. The belt broke just as I pulled onto the highway. I coasted over to the side and tried to figure out what had happened (took nearly 30 min. to figure out missing belt) Before I even had my helmet off a BMW rider from MN turned around and pulled in behind me. He stayed and visited the entire two hours it took to cipher what was wrong, calling BRAG, and getting loaded onto the truck. Pulled out his camp stove and made espresso, told Navy tales (He's on his way to a training in WA)and generally made my day a whole lot better. An altogether pleasant experience. Rob |

One who doesn't care what you ride just that you ride and will stop and help you if you need it regardless of what you ride also. |

The part about him pulling out a camp stove and making espresso made me smile. He probably could have cooked you a full meal complete with desert if you'd have been hungry. Excellent. |

Yeah the BMW guy really drove that home for me. I've always thought I would stop and help folks out, but the occasion has never arose. Now the Samaritan mode won't even require conscious thought; see a bike stopped on the roadside, pull over and offer help. No question no thought, just do it. Rob |

I've used the HOG roadside a couple of times, same as BRAG service. HOG is good for 1 tow a year, up to $100. Makes the membership worth it. I also have "AAA Plus RV", about $100 a year. They will tow me up to 100 miles, jump start me, deliver gas, give me maps, and reimburse me for a hotel if I break down far from home. I get 4 service calls a year, on either bike, in my truck, or as a passenger in a car. |
