I believe this guy was at Laguna for MotoGP, check the rear sprocket on the monster, looks likes it off a dirtbike. There was another guy at AMA Vintage days who did a similar show with an F650 and K1200lt. It was pretty amazing to see him drag the top box on the k1200 doing a wheelie. No clue how they do it | ||

Your question is answered in the same video....trials bike! I have been to see the trials competitions locally, and sport bike stunts are a step down from the miracles these guys perform in the woods! Sure...the monster is a bit heavier...but the physics are all the same!  | ||

Dave used to get some guys from KC to come to Battle Trax in Waterloo and do all that. Dan Jackson? They make it look easy. Their bikes were all beat up, tape everywhere. Fun to watch. | ||

I've only been riding for about ten months, a little over 6000 miles, but I am already getting to the point where I feel like I really know what my bike is going to do when I do something to/with it. Yes, part of that is that I've just gotten into the "comfort zone" of riding, and that this is the most dangerous part of my riding experience, because I tell myself, "You can make it past that car" or "Maybe just a wee bit faster through that corner". But that's just where I am right now... I think that with a lot more miles, and a bike that I hadn't paid a few thousand dollars for, I would try doing stuff like that. Really, it's all low-speed stuff. I've got an Aerostich, and I feel that the padding and abrasion resistance would set me up to survive most crashes at those speeds without much of an issue. I've been hurt plenty of times before, doing other things like sports, Army stuff, and regular "adolescent-boy-growing-up-in-a-boring-small-town-in-the-woods" stuff. Anyway, I think that, given a bike that I didn't depend on for transportation, (I do have a truck, but that's so BORING) a large parking lot that I know no cages are going to speed through, and some more experience under my belt, I'd love to try stuff like that. Granted, it would take a while to get to the point where I was trying to ride on a bike without a front wheel! But, it would be a wicked good time to try... Sean | ||

Seanp, you might want to try learning on a 300 lb or so dirt bike in the dirt less abrasion in the dirt lower broken bone count when in soft stuff bike meant for dropping not likely to find (car) traffic in a field ...... and so on, and the 'stitch will last oner to boot! | ||

I'm Signal. I was Aviation when I was enlisted - I only got to PFC before I saw the light though.  The insignia in that picture is Cav sabres. I was in a Cavalry unit when I was in Iraq. Now I'm in a Transportation BN. Not as much fun... But we don't get shot at nearly as much either! | ||

Sean, I've messed about a bit on the my beloved S1. There's a couple empty lots around here where I've practiced wheelies and stoppies. Just take it slow and there will be no (or very few!) incident(s). | ||

Dirt bike + supermoto tires + empty parking lot = tons of fun. In my profile I have a pic of a 1990 Honda NS50 that I found for real cheap and was able to practice wheelies on. I think it really helped for getting over the fear and learning control so when I got my XB9R I didn't make any crazy or stupid mistakes. | ||

definitely practice on a smaller dirt bike. You'll be amazed at how those skills translate to the street. Many pro racers have small dirt bikes with a "slick" rear tire in their garage to work on controlling slides (backing it in). Besides which the little bikes are a blast to ride and fool around with. | ||
