thang -- yeah, I HAVE wondered that . . . . .

Tramp -- hmm, I'm confused about your statement, as I KNOW I stripped my bolts, screws, nuts, and various and sundry fasterners -- if it's got a helix-shaped inclined plane involved, I've buggered it, fo sho --

but, given the general tenor of the joint lately, I'll pass on the thin skinned silliness, and just say, you're absolutley right ('course, it helps that you are ;-} )

scheisse - i have to post more smileys- us NYers tend to say sardonic stuff with a wiseacre grin... i'm aware that a tech or a factory assembly person cooulda muscled it down.
i apologize very sincerely for coming off stupid, Bombs!

Hey Adam,

I lost mine like that too.

I went to the nearest fastener shop and got a whole bunch of stainless steel flat washers of similar diameter and put just enough on each side, put a new stainless steel and a nyloc nut on the end. Fixed my problem.

Hey Bomber when we meet again can you show me the small charge trick. We can experiment on Tramp's Bike.

Not sure this is relevant or not, but I've noticed that it is important to slightly loosen (~1/16th turn) both screws before really unscrewing one of them any significant amount. Pressure from the rubber o-ring can put a real bind on the one remaining screw if it hasn't been loosened enough to let the o-ring expand fully.

The same issue applies to the screws on the clutch cover.

: )

Blakes got it

Tramp -- I was just confused, as us hayseeds from west of the Alleganies often are when confronted by our brothers and sisters from NYC -- could be some sorta "2nd City Complex," but who knows? apology entirely unnecessary, but graciously recieved, thankyouverymuch ;-}

newfie -- done and done, bro -- my pref is C4, but we can make do with stuff we find in the kitchen . . . .

I'm one-a-those garritroopers who lives within an hour of the city, but I'm out in the hills in a tiny town where hunting and fishing were what most of us grew up doing.
very dualistic area, this hudson valley...
a good rule of thumb is that anything i'm saying on this board is said with a wide grin. I'm toning down the insulting and name-calling that are 'de rigeur' in my home-parts, as ya can't see my grin when i commit said stupidity.
cheers- jay

'belt: Obviously you're not a tool junkie.

A too-long spacer isn't a chance to play with your hacksaw--it's a good excuse to buy a lathe!
