The turn signals on my 97 S-1 flash really fast and when riding it seems like they stay on. Could this be the flasher is going bad?? I searched the KV but came up empty. Ideas?

Doubt it. Did you change the bulbs recently? If so check the bulbs that you didn't change with the ones you did. Do the numbers match up? If not get ones that match with the original bulbs.

Flashing fast or not flashing at all is what will happen when a bulb burns out, but you've probably checked that. Flashers do go bad, it is probably that.

Stock turn signals? If you have anything smaller, or any LED turn signals, consider this

Al, I just put LED signals on the XB, the rear ones work fine, however when I put the LED signals on the front they would not flash just on or off... I put the stockers back on the front for now...Will that little LED flasher solve my problem and allow me to run the LED's in the front?

In my opinion, flashers start out bad as it is.
We had one on our block, and he was always an odd apple.

Nemster - it is possible that the flasher is going bad. I had a short in a turn signal wire that kept blowing my 15 amp fuse. I dropped in a 20 just to get home and later discovered it was cuasing the flasher to over heat (I watched metal parts glow orange!). Afer fixing the short my left turn signal (originally had the short) flashes faster then my right.

Kccyclone - You need a Load balancer wired in and you will be fine.

Tramp - you need to move to a better neighborhood, or at least one that has a different gender of flashers!

Yeah, I have played with LED's a little...

They don't call my bike the "Bling Bling Pimp Daddy Ride" for nothin! (lights for the front end have been added since that pic was taken) I have also been known to do some custom stuff for some of those other bikes...

Load equalizers work, but I view that solution as brute force and wasteful. They just behave as another light bulb in parallel, wasting energy. Ain't much, just don't like that solution because it isn't elegant. A flasher without bulb out notification features (i.e. , designed to flash at the right rate with lesser load, but capable of whatever load that you throw at it) is a bit cleaner, and the one I just added is just that.

I seem to go through the flasher units fairly regular; one last year and now two this season. Can't find a cause as of yet.

Al, don't you have a flasher unit replacement that is suppose to work with LED's without needing a load equalizer?

Al,
Did you ever get a Kissan flasher/running light conversion that would fit the XB9S?
Last I checked with you it was not possible.

Yes, the one I pictured before works fine and won't flash fast with LEDs. It also works fine with the regular OEM turn signals. here
flasher

David,
the flasher/running light conversion works fine with an S, it's the headlight modulator that I don't have for an S (yet). It's here
