My mother, who lives in Western North Carolina, saw this article in a local paper and says that the I-3 project is slated to run through and replace the Dragon. I can't get the website in the article to come up, so I can't confirm that this is a real possibility, but thought we might want to keep an eye on this if it develops. http://www.highlandsnews.com/articles/2005/07/19/news/01news.txt |

Politics, I hate it when big government decides on something and the common folk who vote basically have their hands tied if they do not stick to their rights and opinions. Yeah a new highway will bring more business and not hurt the current local business establishments. It is exactly the opposite, big business along with big government will shortly move in and build megga malls, Wall Mart and Menards will move in and then kill all the local small town businesses. It wont happen overnight and when it does happen those in office will be gone. It is a loosing battle but a battle none the less. I hate it when things like this happen. |

This combined with the ruling by the Moronic Court over our property rights is going to screw this country and all rural areas over. |

Brucelee...Since the last major shut down of the Ortega, I have heard and read the same thing proposed for Hwy 74 between Lake Elsinore and SJC. However, one of the proposals would leave the existing highway as a low maintenance park road with all the bucks going to the semi-paralled free/toll way. Any updates on that issue? |
