Yesterday my father and I stopped at Sonics to get some dinner. As we were leaving a guy in a Firebird pulled up. I had just got my helmet on and had started the bike to let it warm up. I noticed the guy in the Firebird was starring at the bike with a confused look. He would look forward, then back at the bike, forward and then back repeatedly. A few seconds later my dad started his HD up. The guy in the Firebird would look from my dad's bike to mine as if trying to reason why they sound alike. Finally he just shook his head with that look of "it doesn't make sense, but whatever."

Got another one messed up in the head now.

I know what you mean...

We do have a Buell dealer here locally, but being a beach town, they dont sell well, and are not common...I can count on 2 hands the amount of Buells here, as its either gonna be a hyper import, or a overpriced dhopper that someone bought out of one of the local showrooms...

Anyway...

I remember the night I met the crowd I now ride with...

Came rolling into the gas station, adn noticed there was a BUTT LOAD, of 'rockets... Came into the parking lot, no one was really paying any attention, so I lifted the front a few times, and pulled to the pump...

Didnt think anything of it, put the card in the pump, and started filling up.....only to noticed something... there was 4 or 5 people peeking around the side of the pump....talking amonst themselves... and I started smiling...

Anyway, finished getting gas...fired her up, with a good, clearing of her throat for good measure, and started to leave....as I came around the pump, I had EVERYONES attention...and this one guy flagged me down...

I shut her down...so i cold hear...

Then you get the typical, W questions...so I parked, and started shooting the crap...

There was only 2 or 3 people that "knew" what it was, and only from those mag articles....

Then this one guy with an Aprilia spoke up.. and said yeah, but his bike makes more torque before 2000 rpm, then yours does at 15k...

What does that mean...LMAO, yeah, we have been buddies ever since...

Anyway, when we ride somewhere new, I still get that....I just love it...no, its not all that fast, only 150something...BUT, you will be smiling all they way there, straightline, or preferably twisty...

I dont care, I love my bike, I have always admired and loved to Buell, for its uniqueness, its pitbull styling(so ugly its gorgeous)..whats not to like?

Sorry for the long, useless post...but hey..

Chase

last winter a couple guys walking past our carmel place admired my '951/2 S2T rat as "a classic"
my girlfriend giggled at it...
the best was when the one guy said "you gonna restore it?"
this made my girlfriend laugh so hard at my trampiness I nearly wept.
happens a lot

Speaking of Sonic...is anyone here old enough to remember when the carhops wore roller skates?

I didn't think so.

used to still have those even at the A&W where I grew up phased out in HS, so its been about 15 yrs. I did on sonics too, used to live in NM, and keep seeing commercials for the around here but I think only on TBS which is based probably in Atlanta, so it makes it even worse cause I see them, want some onion rings and vanilla coke, but they don't have any in Ohio.

I had several people mistake my XB12S for one of those scooters (liquor cycles) you see running around. Doh! I'd love to see Buell get rid of the dual round headlights and get something more unique and distinctive.

I don't know, I keep thinking I might get one of the XB light set up for my M2 but I did-did? damn g button don't work so well, dig the big round single up front give my bike that old school look, plus the what the hell is that is always fun, I have a few friends with older harleys and they always comment on the M2, how much fun they are to ride, the looks they get, how fast it is and the brakes actually work, to name a few

My favorite situation was when a biker chick started giving me hell about wearing a Harley shirt while I was about to get on my M2. She said it was a "crotch rocket" (?!) and I shouldn't wear stuff like that when I rode them. You should have seen the look on her face when I started the bike.

Just to knock you down a peg. We have a few of those places around here where the still serve you on roller skates. Not inline, roller.

used to still have those even at the A&W

You know what's funny, they have the A&W back here again. Don't think they serve you at your car though.

I had several people mistake my XB12S for one of those scooters

I had someone ask me if mine was a skooter. Shoulda seen the look on their face when I started it.

Hey...one of your lights is out!

I've lost count on the number of times I've been told that.

My favorite situation was when a biker chick started giving me hell about wearing a Harley shirt while I was about to get on my M2. She said it was a "crotch rocket" (?!) and I shouldn't wear stuff like that when I rode them. You should have seen the look on her face when I started the bike.

Now that if funny!!

What!!?!?! There are no Sonics in Wisconsin?!?!?! You gotta be kidding me!!!! Man... So much for places to go for lunch. Tell me they have Quizno's!

I've happily discovered 3 "Dog & Suds" in the area that we moved to and a couple of Barnaby's Pizza Pubs too. All which had died out where I used to reside (I use the word reside because no one really "lives" there if you know what I mean). The Godfathers Pizza chain is still alive, but all the way up in Michigan. Waiting for their return to Illinois...

Sonic! I ate there when I was in Killeen last Feb. I don't remember if it was good or not! Tonys in Birch Run, sassy waitresses, and lots of good food.

I've had half hearted thoughts of suggesting a ride to the nearest Sonic, but figured it'd be kinda dumb in the end. 'bout 300 miles from Chicago area and doesn't include the return trip... Though, if interested, shout.

funny thing about this post is I actually had a guy on a harley pull up to me at the gas pump and started running his mouth about my bike..it may be because i wear a Arai full face, frank thomas leathers(just the jacket on this particular day),and cf knuckled dianese gloves..i look like a sport biker...but here he was runnin his mouth about my bike...i have all the buell emblems off my bike so i can give him that too...but i was in a hurry and got on and started up...he was in the store at this time and i saw him lookin out towards his bike that he thought had just been started...i started to pull away and i gave him the "hang-loose" sign..his mouth wiiiide open...when i hit the road i pulled up the front wheel for about a block and a half...
2 weeks later at a stop light the same guy pulls up next to me...he looks...nods at me..and then holds out his hand for me to shake...i've seen him 3 or 4 times since and he always waves really big..he even pointed me out to a few of his buddies one time...and i got nothing but waves and respect from those ol' timers...GOD I LOVE MY BUELL>>....prez

Another thing that is cool about them at least for the tubers, is it doesn't seem to be that there are two alike. I was at AMA mid-ohio today and will be tomorrow also and saw probably ten buells, not one looked like the other, some bone stock, some wild custom paints, and some that looked to belong in rob zombies garage.
