EZ, it's the XB12SS Lightning Long, a Lightning with the larger frame, longer swingarm, and greater gas capacity of the Ulysses. This is the bike for those who say they are too large for the standard models, or need room to fit a passenger or luggage. | ||

I'm betting it was to increase pitch stability...make it harder for the bike to go verticle..put a new kid on an XB who doesn't understand throttle control or clutch control, and you have problems...this was prolly a reaction to that ..(and possibly a nod to taller riders giving them more roomy cockpit) | ||

I'm pretty sure that it was purely the later Rockbiter. The younger guys want the smaller faster bikes. Us old farts who weight 260 pounds at 6' tall have complained (rightly so) that the present models were just too tight for anything more than a couple of hours in the saddle. JT | ||

It will be more stable on bumps and probably turn just as well. My guess is that the suspension will feel plusher even with the same rate because of less pitching. It may also be smoother on freeway seams. Of course it will be a little harder to wheelie, which means if you build a mongo motor, the added wheelbase is probably an advantage. Just my opinion (after riding a 748 Duc on my favorite roads). |
