I just installed a set of crossroads clip on bars for my 12 lightning and I think they vibrate horribly at speed. Speed being between 30 and 55mph. Anyone have this problem and or ideas for immediate fixation ? NUTS

get a can of "great stuff" spray foam insulation, insert nozzle into barend(s), dispense product.
wait an hour, then cut excess off ends.
for interesting canapes, cut 5 deep notches down the length of a cucumber. slice into 4 sections and core each section. now, fill each section with your favorite jello (reg. tm) color, chill for an hour and slice into thin medallions.
for gasoline leaks on motor vehicles with metal tanks, just rub some bar soap on the leak...voila! an excellent temporary fix until you can address the problem more permanently, or it rains.
spot of food on your favourite silk tie? relax-
if the food isn't greasy, allow it to dry overnight, then brush with a soft-bristkle toothbrush in the direction of the weave
cookies sticking to your baking sheets? use parchment paper instead of that carcinogenic non-stick teflon. for cooling them off, use a brown paper bag set out flat. this allows much of the oil to wick away from the base of the cookies, assuring a much crispier treat.
hands smell fishy after cleaning a bass? try toothpaste on them...work into a smooth lather, allow to sit for a minute, then rinse with clean water...
trying to sort out an elctrical concern with your buell, far from home? keep a spare piece of wire in your toolbag or duct taped under your seat. when you have an electrical problem, remove on bulb from a directional,, wrap the stripped end of the wire around it, and bridge any suspect shorts with the wire and the base of the bulb...
broken v-belt on your car? always carry nylon stockings/pantyhose. tie a lentgh on with a knot, or if possible, stretch over the v-belts, and drive home at your leisure...
anyone else?

Yeah I'll double check Glitch, thanks. Man those things feel much wider than the original bars. Not that I'm not enjoying the ride, but the difference will take some getting used to. Have to find some of those cheapo bar end mirrors before the cops notice I am without the required safety equipment. Hey do you guys ever get up to western Virginia?

Jason,
I haven't heard that they have any particular vibration problems.

The bosses on the lower handlebar saddles are not at the same height. The crossroads bars include two washers that go under the plate to shim the lower boss to the same height as the other so that the bar plate mounts squarely. Did you get that part installed right? That washer not being there might cause the vibration you speak of.

I do note that the plate does have a little bit of flex, but I haven't noticed any undue vibration because of it.

Al

Yeah Al, the washers were installed and everything torqued properly with loctite. The vibration isn't dangerous just mildly annoying. I'll keep on keeping on until she shakes me off no worries. Hey any word on the Corbin delivery?
Those penguins are good at sweeping the debris out of apexes. NUTS

Try some weighted bar-ends. They help a little.

You forgot one. WD40 removes crayon marks and old stickers from fridge doors.

ah, yes- and baking soda safely removes scuff marks from walls and most other surfaces...
Brake Parts Cleaner is a MUCH more effective "waspicide" (I mean the insects, not the Smythes) than any Raid product, I always carry a can when I'm at the local dismantler, pulling parts.
For large hornet nests around the yard, wait until after nightfall (when they're all in there), spray a nice stream into the opening, and cover with a square os duct tape.
For big paper nests in trees, do the above, then clip branches back to allow a hefty bag to be drawn over the nest and duct-taped closed, and clip branch off above the nest.
You now jhave your hornet's nest in a hefty bag.
If you don't want to kill them, skip only the 'spray' part, then drive a mile or more away with it and open the hefty bag (the nest hole is still duct-taped) and, as you're about to drive away, toss a rock at the nest.

we always used Mr Gunk engine degreaser, hold lighter in spray path, just don't burn your tree, house, shed, etc. Might as well entertain the nieghbors/yourself while your at it.

Are there any hints for preventing the strange burnt smell after using WD40 in the kitchen?

unfortunately, noone can "prevent" something "after" it's been done. temporal restrictions negate the mere possibility

Ah, reminds me of my old pyro days as a youngster, experimenting to see what had the best properties.
