Well we'll know in a few days, but if this bike does come out and sells I'd like to know where a person would ride one of these? Seems like a fine, being Buell, sport, or sport tourer, but off road; I don't think so. Way too heavy to be practical off road, even on a graded gravel road,(belt drive aside). For those of you that own a 450 lb. duel sport bike; where have you taken it off road? Now be honest. I think I would have preferred Buell to have made a better sport tourer like they had before. I took my XB9SX down a gnarley muddy hill last saturday. At one time it was a gravel driveway, by the time I got there it was pretty much rocky mud. It was absolutely uneventful, and no harder to manage then the Honda XR250 I used to get to ride (aside from the XB being easier to start  ). I would not jump the XB around like I did the XR though, nor do I know if I would be doing the same kind of powerslides with it. Though now that I think about it, it would be a lot of fun to try (the slides, not the jumps). | ||

With the accessories I have installed, I estimate the weight of my BMW F650Dakar at 430-440 pounds and it produces less than 50 HP. It handled well on these roads....    I've been on worse, but was a little...busy...and didn't stop to take pics. I'm not a particulalry skilled rider but I wouldn't hesitate to take the bike on most fire roads and gravel county roads...of which there are many in this area. I avoid most dual, and all single track trails. Remember that last year over half of Buell's sales were in Europe, and this sort of bike is hugely popular over there. I expect Buell sales over there to double on the basis of this bike. If they manage to sell a few thousand of them here too, it will be a huge shot in the arm for Buell. | ||

so they dont sell well in Kalifornia.... Big deal, a lot of Motorcyclists live and ride in other parts of the world. A lot of us are very happy with a 74 inch aircooled engine in a stout aluminum frame. remove a few stray reflectors, a couple useless plastic cosmetic bits, an exhaust valve and its associated hardware and you have a 440 pound all purpose sport-commuter-weekend touring hotrod. with a chain drive setup you can even run gravel roads all day at 70 mph. |
