Yipes, that looks like one tough-mutha dual-sport! But like all bikes of that breed, the long-travel suspension will of course make it way too tall for short-legged little squirts like me. Wahhh! [throws tantrum] Oh well... maybe I can fit that cool little windscreen to my 12cg? :-) | ||

That drawing is a Rorschach test. It is meant to find out what you project on a bike psychologically. Is that Ghostrider on an acid trip? What do the two crabs versus one snake signify? Stick to the 96 S1, I have a 98 S1 but I would NEVER dare take it where I take my DR650!!!!! Comparing the new Ulysses to the S1 is like comparing an apple to an orange. I am sure comparing the Ulysses to a DR650 or DRZ400 is also like an apple to orange. I enjoy my DR650 as I can chase my kids around on their smaller dirt bikes, there are tight trails I take it on that I would smack the hell out of the jugs on a BMW and tear the bits out of the fairings on the other Adventure Tourers. I could see myself owning an Adventure Tourer as it would make a great complement to the S1 and the DR650. Seeing I was going to buy a URAL with a driven sidecar this new Buell may be the way to fly. The only concern I would have is once again the dreaded belt drive system!!!!!! I only wish that the book above was opened to the inside pages.!!!!!!! | ||

Rick, True enough, and that applies as much for a pure street bike and an all-road bike. But would it be very tough to remove the front caliper or even just the pads in that case and limp home with only the rear brake? | ||

Bummed...How can you be bummed? Buell is doing a good job of introducing a few new models each year. Granted none may be in your preferred flavor, but that's not to say they won't make it some day. Keep the faith! Just think, that is coming from an anal retentive fellow that still wants to see an affordable production street tracker. LOL | ||

I LOVE ALL THIS TALK!!!! aving gone thruogh the days when we HOPED that the magazines would give us more than 1 inch of space for a new bike intro and where thrilled if we got 3 people calling for info in a day the thought of thousands on BBS around the world talking about a new Buell is simply too cool. And for all of you who think the new bike misses the mark.... ah excuse me you have not seen it, you have no specs, no reviews, just a heavily doctored drawing designed to stir up interest. Just like many dismiss the City X as fancy bodywork, it is much much more than that, don't dismiss this one until you actually have a chance to see it. | ||

These new Buells will have the same specs as the current models. The same old lump of a motor. No real radical changes at all. Triumph can come out in 2005 with a beefed up redesigned Speed triple and the largest displacment cruiser on the planet while Buell HD gives us new models with upgraded hand grips and clear body work. Big deal!Gosh let me sell my Cyclone and go out and buy one ..........NOT!I wish Buell tried as hard as Triumph. When Buell builds a balanced vtwin as light as that KTM with superior torque numbers I will take a closer look at them again. I am content with my Cyclone. Mike | ||

a whole lotta experts proselytizin' 'bout a bike they've not yet seen...  and by-the-by...i had a trouble-free belt for 9 years, including a lot of offroad (logging trails, nothing too hairy), and every i've bent my marchesinis, Northeast Cycle Salvage in Mass. has straightened those puppies right out for me. Let's actually all SEE and RIDE the new buells before we spout off about how badly they suck... so much armchair testriding, so little time.... |
