Hammer- I just spoke to him, he's got 15w50 Mobil 1, but not 20w50.
he can get all kinds of top-brand stuff, too.
Did you get that rotator cuff repaired, yet?
I had my left done once....

once.
To get in there they have to remove the tip of your acromium, which they can't really put back in, so in my own case, I permanently lost a lot in my bench press. had I known they were so medieval about it, I maight have opted for strict PT, although that really didn't work when I tired it, first. watch that acromio-clavicular joint ("AC Joint"; ) as well...those babies can be worse than the RC trauma, sometimes.
Most importantly, be really selective about you physician...we have some bad orthopedes here in The OC....

When and where is the Bear mountain car and bike show? I have never been to Bear mountain, but hear the riding is pretty nice there. I am going completely stir crazy here in the City, it's not fit for human habitation this week!
I tore my rotator cuff two years ago, it was a partial tear, not a disconnect, but some nerve damage, too. It was so painful, I thought I had a heart problem! But, rest and physical therapy brought it back 100%. It was close to six months before I was 95%, though. I'm 41 now, so not exactly a kid anymore, but if you have an option, I think Tramp is probably right, go the PT route if you possibly can! I didn't see the PT until 2 months after it happened, but the results were immediate, it was amazing how much difference and how fast the PT improved my condition after 2 months of he!!.

having to lose that acromium tip (they still remove
it for RC repair) has left me with anunstable left shoulder, which sucks for boxing, benching and violin

bigblock,
if you have never been to bear mtn the local riding just might blow you away. rt6 and 218 were seemingly produced by the buell motor company as a way to prove their ideas. see above for directions, better yet print some from the net. without a traffic problem it's not a bad ride from the gwb.

As of right now they have no idea if rotator is torn or strained. Dept jerked me around for past month with the MRI. Getting it done in the A.M. Have no movement rearward without pain but good thing is I can still ride with minimal discomfort. Will try PT as I dont want anyone cutting on me.

As for Bear Mtn. I will be there other directions as follows

NYS thruway north to exit 16. Thriugh toll (.50). take 1st exit. ( sign toward west point). If memory serves correctly it will be a left turn at the light ( there are signs there for west point). second traffic light make a left onto rt 6 once up the hill road forks, bear right and follow to traffic circle. Once at the circle take the third exit ( this will put you on end of pallisades) follow to next traffic circle. once there first exit, entrance to the park area down on right.

Opinions vary but I think Pallisades is your best option, straight shot down and minimal traffic compared to what you will encounter once near the outlets at exit 16.

Come and gone.. was great meeting mikexlr and bigblock. good to put face with name. Rt 6 and 218 are by far some of the best roads I've been on thanks mike.. And to think I've been 2 min from them forever.. go figure. Mike. I would have stopped in on the way home but didnt want to wake the family. We all have to hook up again.. maybe when we have more daylight. night riding makes me nervous sometimes.. furry little animals do wierd things to a bike. Great ride, need to get more of us out there.

And a good time was had by all...
Actually, a great time! That was the most fun I've had since I moved to NY! Thanks Hammer and Mike, I'm totally stoked! The ride home was uneventful, I got in the door at about 11:45. We definitley need to do that again (and again and again...) And a little earlier wouldn't be a bad Idea, either. I'm a little tired today, but feel amazingly well for having a 14 hour day of Sun, fun and awesome machines! The car and bike show was stellar! The scenery was awesome! Aahh, Summer...

But where's the rest of the NY area Buellers? Be great to meet some more of ya...
(Hey Henrik, about time ya busted the seal on that garage door of yours...)

definitely again, maybe start early on a saturday morning. the buell day at danbury hd sounds very good (august 20th), just don't want to wait that long to ride again. bigblock, very impressed that you took the ride up from brooklyn with the possibility of brutal traffic in either direction. next time we'll try to end the ride a little further south so you don't have a 2hr trip home. the only way that ride could have been better would have been to start earlier. 218 on a clear warm night with a full moon and little traffic, c'mon i'll take it anytime. hammer, cool to have company all the way home, hopefully your cooling fan didn't wake up the family when you wheeled it into the kitchen (mine spent it's first few nights in my kitchen, where it will also spend next winter).

you'd like the place- usually some of your fellow ossifers (mainly NYPD)on HD scoots there as well as my fellow 1%ers and a handful of city firefighters on Harleys, primarily. (remarkably, everyone gets along great).
i semi-quit last week, (doing tree work days requires getting to bed before 4 am), but i'll likely stay with weekends.
that's the Sugar Loaf Station Pub in "the 'Loaf", where I'm one of about 4 natives. We also have the "Barnsider Tavern/restaurant" for the HOG crowd, with "tramp-designed" m/c parking spaces lining the front.
incidentally- I'm sure you read about our own officer Ferarra here in chester. GREAT guy, ex-motocross rider, he's in critical/stable condition at Valhalla. I'll be riding down there next week or possibly this weekend to stop in and cheer him up, what with his two broken femurs, lacerated liver, collapsed lung and broken arms and nose- it's all over the news, nothing left of the front of his car, engine wound up in passenger seat. Kid slammed him in an SUV at night with his lights off. Kid better stay away from any establishment with an S2 rat in front.
Bob's a Really Good guy and a very good cop, too.
One of those cops who understands the 'peaceful' value of having us fellas around.

Tramp.. hit me up when and if you ride down to see him.. been there.. also as for the 1%.. see previous post.. wasnt always a cop.. LOL. Used to live in Warwick so I know where yor talkin about. Great place there. Saw pics of patrol car and thought he was dead. P.D. here trying to put something together for him. From what was said on intersystems.. it was a chase .. then kid turned around with lights off and Boom. 2 passengers in car transported to arden hill in intensive care.. both stabile.. dont know about driver and could care less. Hope chester P.D. did the right thing..

that little skel is in valhalla, as well.
i went to high school in warwick, (then graduated burke).
family farm still there, on 'loaf side, family used to run the airport.
thanks for the compliment on the place- the reason i'm there is because a buddy of mine wants to buy it so we can make it into an old-fashioned
cycle pub, much like it was (although less dive-esque) before the present owners decided to reinvent the wheel when they bought it 7 years ago and made it a wannabe-deadhead music spot. they lost their shirts so now it's for sale.
not sure i wanna make a commitment on a pub, but it could be fun.

Great place.. would make one hell of a "biker" bar I actually remember when there were lines of bikes in front and no one would dare go in. LOL. Once the R.U.B. persona dies down it will once again be a great place to kick up your heels and have a good time.

that's the place.
it sorta 'weeded out'
the hogs (reg. tm), wannabes
and buffs.
I took on managing it a little over a month ago, so I was getting guys from westchester, etc., on scoots.
It's so cool how trouble-free a bar is when there are club guys and softclothes guys just enjoying the ambience.
two weeks ago, a dear friend of mine (from goshen) pulled in on his MV and some moron had the audacity to say something about 'not parking it near the real bikes'....
the guy was (in good humor) chided to embarrassment for his stupidity, and i allowed him to stay (again, all tongue-in-cheek) if he'd buy my MV buddy a round or two. guy was penitent and funny, and they wound up hanging for hours, when they parted, my bud with the MV had picked up a nice drywall job through the fella.
last wek, a bronx cop was backing up a 1%er with rounds and vice-versa, while both of them busted my nards for being a mets fan.
always a nice time, i feel badly for semi-quitting, but i'll likely work saturday/sunday. i'll keep ya posted.
i tend to keep bluegrass playing on the sattelite TV to keep the 'wannabe-hippie-kids' out, and to give the place a nice 1970s CBGB/OMFUG flavour...
back before CB's became a punk mecca.
