Wow I just drove by a gas station here in Illinois and regular is $2.45 a gallon. Premium is $2.65! They were just changing it before lunch time. Well its time to ride the Buell or hd as much as possible, so what is everybody getting for mpg on our bikes? I checked Sunday and even on a "fun" spirited ride I got 53 mpg with the race kit on my XB9R. Fiery was with me and she got 57 mpg on the highway with her stock XB9SL. So what else is everyone seeing for fuel prices and your mpg on your bike. RIDE a BUELL SAVE FUEL!!! And be COOL!! |

Well if i ride conservitavly, i get around 51-50, but if i ride normal... 47-48. I don't want to be Spidy right now w/ that little gas tank of his.. prolly around 30 for him. My father in law gets 27 MPG's on his Electra Glide, and that is w/ the 107" S&S, he says it is better than his evolution MPG's which boggled my mind. |

I've been riding almost everyday (I'd say rain or shine but it hasn't rained in so long...) the S3T gets close to 60mpg. JT |

I get 42-44 on my regular in town commute to work, and about 48 on the hwy. With my '98 Race kitted S3T. I used to get better before I switched to the #48 jet. But it doesn't cough and spit anymore now. |

Rubdoggy say: "i paid $3 a gallon just the other day to fill the bike. here in cali, it's ridiculous." no, what's REALLY ridiculous is the fact that in Cali, "Premium" is 91 octane! here in NY, premium is 93 and it's cheaper than Cali. |

Filled up today, got 51 miles to the gallon on the last tank, some city riding and some highway driving and everyone knows that the speed limit in Arizona is only a suggestion. |

I only get 42-44 mpg. The bike is still new (1500 miles) & I ride a little on the aggressive side. And yes, gas in Cali sucks. It's down to $289 for super (91 octane) |

I was paying +$4 Canadian per gallon last week in Alberta and British Columbia. I was on my Sportster which was getting 50+mpg. ($1.09 per liter, 3.75 liters per gallon) 39% of that is tax, that works out to $1.59 per gallon in tax! TwoWheel: Set your tripometer to zero when you fill up. Next time you need gas, divide miles traveled by gallons of gas put in. 120 miles / 2.3 gallons = 52.17 mpg |

Twowheeldream - I leave the bike on the side stand, bars full left, and fill until the gas is just touches the lowest part of the filler neck (dark plastic or rubber). On a trip I'd probably want to fill a little higher. Zero the trip meter and that is your starting mark. Next time fill it to the same level and devide the miles driven by the gallons added. I got 54 MPG on my last fill, easy miles on secondary roads and I have a light hand. I'm in Downeast Maine, we're paying about 2.45/Gal here for Premium. Jack |

What gets me mad is the difference at the pump between premium and reg unlead, the maxium difference that the refiners sell to the spot market is only 5 cents, but either the distributor or station owners bump this difference alot, 20-30 cents a gallon. |

Question, I know how the XB's will adjust automaticly for difference in the air density. I was wondering, being I'm going on a trip through the mountains, if I would lose gas millage or gain it or see nothing at all? MY parents HD's are both carbed and they said they noticed no power loss which I found interesting. |

Cataract2 - Are they in Florida? Not much change in elevation. You have to get out west to get a real feel for the effects of altitude. Places like like Gallup (NM) and Denver (CO). Pueblo, CO to Montrose, CO on US-50 is one of my favorite drives, I hope I get to make that on a bike some time. Monarch summit is 10,000 and some change, you can get a little light-headed with some exertion. US-50 is a national treasure. Jack |

I love the fact our Buells get great MPG but, when your $150.00 tire wears after four to ten thousand miles how much are we actually saving versus driving the cage? Regards Mike |

Gas up to $2.39 in Green Bay. S3T gets around 50 mpg with city driving. I've been riding the Buell for 3 weeks straight. Only taken the Rover to work once (because I was playing in a golf outing). Long range looks like more of the same for the next ten days |

Yesterday, my local Sunoco station was selling Ultra 93 for $2.55 9/10 a gallon. I get 50 - 55 MPG commuting. I'll ride. Even if it costs more in the long run, my pickup doesn't make me smile anywhere near as much as my Buell does. |

www.tdiclub.com My Golf TDI with huge turbo and injectors (over 300ft/lbs of torque) gets 42-47mpg on diesel. If you compare cost of a bike in cost per gallon. A Buell isn't all that cost effective. Bikes loose value way to quick. If you do recommend service then thats expensive (shocks). Riding gear, extra insurance, etc etc. Now for that max value- a scooter. Not an option , lol |

I don't remember what the price is...over $2...I know that. My bike was 33 mpg in town, around 45mpg highway. She was runnin' a 12:1 A/F ratio...thought it was a bit rich, but after tearing it down I've never seen a cleaner exhaust pipe or port on anything else. The exhaust was actually much cleaner than the intake that had some stains from reversion and fairly heavy deposits on the valves. |
