For a review of the MAD EFI system look athttp://www.nightrider.com/biketech/efi_project_00.htm

This is on a big inch Evo but the principle is the same.

Now I know how I got a direct e-mail from mad-efi the other day. Aimed directly at my TC95 no less!

This was definitely a productive discussion. I think Gary hit the nail on the head for what I was looking for. Perfect for the street. I have 2 races to do yet for the full license but the majority of the bike's duty is on the street. If I had a curve like the one above, I'd never stop smiling. The bragging rights peak HP doesn't do much for me. Not trying to set any records.

I didn't think anyone would feel a difference by gutting the airbox. Granted there is more "available" air, but I would think the "tuned length" runner would help in the torque area. Sounds like that isn't the case either. Guess I'll leave it as is.

My Harley was originally tuned on the DJ150 Mancuso HD has, but the graph told a different story than what the plugs did. I ended up going from a 230 and 52 jet to a 225 and 50 jet in my CV44 to get the plug color I was looking for. Got some snap back in the throttle too. I guarantee if I ever have the need for a PCIII on the X1, I'll travel the extra miles to find an eddycurrent dyno. I also believe, like Aaron and Gary, that the ability to let the dyno hold a specific rpm is vital in the lengthy tuning process. But I shouldn't need it with just the K&N, D&D full exhaust, and race ECM. I've seen the chart on the Sport Twin link and it looks nice.

Aaron, help me understand. I originally mentioned I thought a slightly leaner mix would get a little more power. You said slightly richer. I figured that just because there is more fuel, it doesn't necesarilly mean it will ignite. And that if it was leaner, the combustion process will somehow, by creating more heat, make a little more power. Where did I figure wrong?

X1Glider...your mixing up maximum power and cleanest burn (i.e., stoich)...they are not the same. Stoich is a full chemical burn, what most mfgr EFI systems attempt to attain as it produces the fewest emissions. Maximum power is richer than stoich in almost all engines. The above is over-simplified (for instance, many EFI systems, at WOT can actually be too rich in an attempt to get max power - it will have different maps for part throttle and WOT operation).

==============
That Mad-EFI is interesting, but expensive w/ little gain over a carb (IMNSHO).

- Curious, why not use the standard harely bolt pattern for the throttle body? That limits air cleaner options for the customer.

- Does it have differing maps, or is even the single map 3-D...looks like it's 2-d from the # of inputs. No altitude adjustment (other than the knob)?? Kinda hard to tell from the small pictures, buy why *NOT* a PC programming interface...would be worlds easier to adjust maps when you can see the whole thing...instead of the value at any one increament.

- What about the pump, in tank or external? What about the regulator (same)?

- Looks like a great drag race setup though.

We are going to test and tune these in the next week or so or if some one lives around Alabama
and want to bring over and X1 we will put it on
and they can tell me what they think.
I am using some stock 2002 X1 parts
TPS ,injectors, fuel conection , air NO 02 sensor
they are not need on a performance bike they are for gas milage and it does that fine with out it.working on an air cleaner now. Hope to go to see West at Cyclerama and put one on Pam bike soon and to Brians and let he check it out too. Both of them have help a
lot. I think these two can tell what I need to do
to finish the systems.
Give a call if you have any ????
I am not very good at this typing or spelling

Ah, that makes much more sense (using many of the stock X1 bits), why reinvent the wheel, so to speak...just wasn't clear from the website or the nightrider write up.

So your not converting it to a MAP system and using the Buell's IAT???

Thanks for the earlier email...we kinda white-board things here...not trying to give you a hard time or anything; looks like a nice product.

The ECU can
Be used with blower turbos with 02 sencor
map tps four injectors NOS switch MAP 2 sets of injector with fuel curve for each
be making efi intake for 10 years and this one will do both run great on street better than any
carb if you then out run it on top end because of the size of the intake. Ducati uses 50mm for 1/2 of a 996 and they run dam good but I want to see the day when they look over and there dam Buell
going by them.
Sorry but I don't like carbs and they do run good but I want MORE !!!
