Hey folks, I am wanting to change the color of my header pipes. They are black chrome now, but I scuffed them up a little.

I was wondering how much it runs to have them ceramic coated, maybe in a black. OR Maybe just find out if I can use a high heat paint on these?

Has anyone done anything like this recently?

I think Jet-Hot charges around $150 including shipping and everything. Might be a bit more if they need to remove old coating.

I had my header Jet Hot coated in black. Complete waste of money in my opinion. Not much different that if I had painted them myself. I noted no difference in heat output and ended up wrapping them with header wrap. The silvery coating Jet-Hot coating however is apparently a worthwhile investment if that is a look you like.

There are also other coating vendors who will provide much the same or possibly better product.

Maybe others will chime in.

Of note...

You CAN NOT weld on the silvery jet-hot coating AND it's VERY hard to grind off... even with a high RPM die grinder. Keep grinding until you get sparks if you need to weld on it. It transfers heat exceedingly well.
