On Thursday I did a track day at Autobahn in Joliet Il.
First off, thanks to Il HD/Buell for sponsoring the day!
The track is great, we ran the north course. It is about 1.5 miles with 9 turns, short straights and has a couple very technical turns, a Buell track for sure!
Turn 2 is a very decreasing radius that is very hard to go thru fast. I don't think I got it "right" all day long. I will need to work no that when I return in Sept.
I did manage to run some 1.12 and 1.13 minute laps.I think I could drop a second or two more if I could figure out turn one and two. My front tire started going away late in the day(I HATE pushing the front end) on the right side as the track is mostly right handers.
I did manage to drag my shift lever on one of the left turns a few times.
It was HOT! 93 degrees in full leathers, working your butt off on a technical track really works up a sweat! Thanks to all of you that "gave me a pull" to get out of my leathers.
There were 4 or 5 REALLY fast guys there, one ran a 1.02 so I have my work cut out.
Brent took some pictures so maybe he will get them up here.
It was good to see Brent and Bobby(and ugly dog),Paul and the gang from IL Buell.
Speedy was there practicing for the races this weekend, hope he does well!

There is another track day there on Sept 8th, I am going for sure. I will start signing people up as of now. Who wants to go?
Be cool to have a Buell filled pit!

Did you take the Aprilia to the track also Dave? I'm curious to hear your impressions of the Ape both on the track as well as the street.....

I took it but didn't ride it. Too much fun on the Buell.
There was a guy on a Mille out there, I passed him and left him for dead. He then dropped to the intermediate group. Must have been too much for him to handle, being passed by a Buell!
He crashed it in the afternoon going into the turn 1-2 area.

The 8th is the thursday before the CCS Formula USA races there. My brother and I should probably be there. Being a new track the practice time will be a good way to start the weekend.
