My wife would get a heart attack it that showed up here.

Forgive me my ignorance, but why the purple spot on her back?

Red hourglass on her belly
Black widow with a painful bite some die from.
I think there are seven different color & texture variations and they all have the hourglass.

It was doctored to color match the colored flower petal, but it appears the color matching didn't flatten out and blend like it normally does(looking at a different monitor then it was edited on). This particular one has an orangish red hourglass. The one I shot last year has a dark red hourglass.

(last years)

And to think I rode thru your neighborhood this morning! I am really happy I didn't see any of those critters. All the bugs in my neighborhood are old and don't have teeth hence no bite but a lot of bark.

Bill you were out during the day so your safe ; )

Danny yes you can, they prefer to eat insects, just beware, she lays roughly 100-500 eggs per sac, and the offspring will fit thru any of the meshing you would use to allow ventilation.

...after surviving 25 spider bites at one time, I have no use or sympathy for any of them...if I see them they are summarily smashed without hesitation or remorse.

Death to the arachnids, death to them all!

If there is any thing I hate worse than spiders I don't know it. When they found out at work I told my superviser at work if any body put a spider on me there would 2 people fired and I would be put in jail. One thing I don't play with is spiders.
