I just received my Joe Rocket Meteor 4 jacket today and have a question on how it should fit. I am 6'2" and weigh 170lbs, I normally wear a size medium in "regular" jackets but this is my first motorcycle specific jacket. I ordered it in a large because I tried on a Fieldsheer Mach 3 in a medium and it was too small(sleeve length). What I need to know is should this jacket fit big in my chest? The sleeves are perfect and I can cinch down the waist with the adjustments but I just want to make sure I am getting all of the protection I can. Is there anyone on here that is approx my size that has any experience with Joe Rocket jackets?

I normally wear a XXL shirt and I had to go to a XXXL Joe Rocket jacket to fit. The XXL would zip, but I looked like a balloon ready to pop. I'm 6' and 270lbs (yeah, go ahead and laugh all you skinny ). I'm not fat, I'm big boned...

My guess is because of your height you're either going to end up with sleeves too short or a chest that's a bit too big. Personally, if the sleeves and waist fit, I wouldn't worry about it. It will still protect you when you go down. Besides, when you need to carry something you can just stuff it in your jacket.

Agreed for the most part (5'10" 230). The only thing you need to be careful about is that at high speed, the wind whipping the jacket around can cause un-wanted input into the bars. If it's REALLY lose, I'd get something else, but if it's not too bad (my Joe Rocket jacket is the same way, but my Vanson fits VERY well) then it's probably OK. The main area to worry about is the upper arms.

Well, I am 5'9 and 175-180(athletic build), and teh large fits me perfectly.... witht eh liner in it, a little snug...

My buddy, is 6'7, 210, and he wears a Large/long..(makes his duc look like a pocketbike)...

Anyway, I would rather have the sleeves fit right, and a little looseness in the chest...than have the sleeves too short.....

My 2 cents....

Jeremy, thats good, BUT, unless you can afford to have stuff custom made, you wont get anythign perfect....

Its hard for me, cause in order for the arms and chest to be comfortable, the waist is gonna be loose, had a seamstress "adjust" my leather jacket..but it wasnt cheap..

My rocket...nah, its good....tight enough to do what its supposed to...

The Medium Phoenix was too small on my arms and the Large way too big on my chest. Went with Large.

My Joe Rocket Santa Fe jacket is a L. I used there sizing chart.

For reference I am 5'9" and about 235. It fits great in the shoulders, but is a little snug around my gut.

Thanks for the help but when I got home I tried it on w/o the liner and w/ just a t-shirt on and I think my 3yr old could ride inside of it with me. The shoulders and chest are huge, unfortunatly MY shoulders and chest are not(I wear a 40long in a suit). I hope the medium I exchange it for fits OK in the arms.

joe rocket large santa fe mesh, with the armor in it fits great (5'10" 175lbs) I took all but the elbow armor out for around town riding and without it it seems a bit on the large side but still comfy enough to ride without even thinking about it...

I'm 5'11" 170lbs with a L Meteor jacket and a L blaster jacket (perfed). They both fit a little large in the chest but not enough to warrant an exchange (sleeve length is perfect). It's as close as it's gonna get without a custom fitting anyway.

At 6'1" 195lbs Joe Rocket Gear at an XL size fits fairly well. 2 spots I do not fit well in are the chest area (as stated before - a little loose) and the collar - too snug when closed.

I have been finding the First Gear items at the same size to fit much better all around so far.

I went to the local dealership today and tried on a med in the Phoenix and it didnt even hit my waist in length and the sleeves were way too short. I guess its the large or nothing.
