Can you root for Sete? Seems like a little bit of a whiner, but also seems to be the only one able to keep Rossi's pace. Geez, when Rossi & Giberneau passed Edwards two GP's ago, he visibly shook his head in amazement!

It would be nice to see Sete go after Rossi & mix it up. All the wild-footed, fairing banging, edge of control stunts are one sided, Rossi-only affairs. Where's Schwantz when you need him? Or my favorite race of all time, the last world suberbike race of the 2002 season when Colin Edwards & Troy Bayliss banged, braked & bashed their way to the line. Classic.

What would Hopper do on a Honda? Or, even better, what would Mladin do on the GSVR?

Get their asses handed to them by Rossi.
Like him or not, the guy can ride!

He certainly can ride and in the last two races he pulled off the same manoeuvre to win - three laps to go - breeze past Biaggi/Gibbers/whoever on the brakes - put in a couple of hot corners - take chequered flag.

Hopefully the 800cc limit will only apply to Rossi to give the others a chance LOL

Did anyone pay attention to the tire choice for Catalunya?
Rossi Hard/Hard
Gibers Med/Hard
Hayden SOFT/Hard...

Now if I was Nicky, and I saw Rossi and Gibers, on harder compound tires then I was on, don't you think I would go to something else? I mean how many races now has Nicky slid backwards down the order in the last few laps due to tire fade...Nicky has the speed and the skill to hang with them and land on a podium, IF he can quit burning out his front tire...

Assen is a circuit that really favours the guys who came up from the 250 ranks and still carry high corner speed (or can adapt quickly). For that reason alone I predict a top 3 of:

1. Rossi (no surprise there then)
2. Melandri
3. Biaggi

Gibernau will crash whilst dicing with Colin Edwards for 9th place; )
The organisers are practising the Italian national anthem even as we speak: )

My picks for Assen are....

1. Rossi - obviously
2. Gibernau - the only one who can challenge Rossi
3. Melandri - he is still an up and commer.

Oh, and that happens to be the order they finished at Assen last year.

No argument here from either of the two above predictions. I gotta root for Capirossi on the Duc and Hayden and Edwards too.

I wonder if Nicky's familiarity with the track(Laguna) will come to his aid? I am thinking more forward to the Laguna race.

Do you mean Hayden's lack of familiarity compared with the others listed?

These guys have been on these tracks on 125s, 250s, 500s, and MotoGP bikes for 10 years or more.

Exactly Ingemar, I can see the headlines now -sudden heavy thunder storm forces lead riders into the pits to change tyres, backmarkers carry on using slicks in a gamble to get them to the front of the pack. Weather takes a sudden turn for the better and the top riders are forced to pit again. They lose too much time and the guys normally at the back of the field finish at the front: ) BTW Shane Byrne will finish a strong 4th on the KTM.

Stranger things have happened, anyone at Indianapolis last weekend for instance?

Enough said.

Not sure that the riders know what tires the others are on before they start the race... That may be part of the strategy. Good for Colin to get another podium!!!!
