A young Buell lady who isn't very computer literate has expressed an interest in moving from the depths of NJ to NM. What's it like, she sez.
So, any New Mexican Buell Riders out there who could give me a general overview of the state, cost of living, job market, favorite parts of the state and best and best avoided Buell dealers?
Any and all info will be greatly appreciated!

North-East part is gorgeous and not too hot, cost of living is cheap except North-East part (Taos, Santa Fe) job market is tough but if you specialize in something and sometimes being bilingual helps, southern part is the part I would avoid but I hate the heat and the desert. I live in Colorado but visit there all the time on my way to AZ. I even drove all the way from Golden, CO to Las Cruces to buy my moto from Barnett-HD there. Smaller store from the Giant Store in Texas but VERY friendly and I saved a couple grand on my XB9S. Ask for Lorna, she is cool.

Steve,

Check out the Storm Fronts section. The NM BRAG group isn't that active.

Spent a life time in Albuquerque and have many relatives there and can't wait to
move there myself.

Chick's HD/Buell on Alameda is the only dealer I've had experience with. SEEMED
to have a great interest in Buell, seeing as how they were Buell dealer #6 and have a
pristine RR1000 sitting at the entrance. Demo rides were offered without a fuss.

The surrounding area is 'Cruiser' friendly but the road to Los Alamos is a corner
carvers buffet. You can get all the way to Denver without ever hitting an interstate!!
The weather is unbelievable. A tad hot in summer with occassional snow---elevation
is approx 5K so it's basically a high desert area with a beautiful mountain range on
the east and a flat 'mesa' to the west---famous for sunsets!!

The food is addictive...you will crave green chili's.

Cost of living is below any national average. Housing is unbelievably new and
reasonable. Wages for professionals are on par, blue collar is on par, labor is
cheap...INTEL has a major chip manufacturing facility---like about 1 square mile of
high tech facility! Kirtland AFB and Sandia Labs are major military employers.
Univ.NM is one of the top rated medical schools not to mention a major employer.
The arts scene is off the scale. Art is everywhere. Rich cultural heritage and
traditions.

Every neighborhood has a park. Baseball is a huge sport. College basketball is front
page news.

All in all, it's the place to be in New Mexico. Santa Fe is too expensive and more
than a bit snobby. Taos is an elitist retreat for the entertainment crowd and ultra-rich.
Anything south of Albuquerque is too edgy for my tastes although there are some
really nice communities to the south along the Rio Grande river valley. Easy shot to
Arizona, Texas, Colorado. Great roads but you have to watch out for the
drunks...as usual. Oh yeah, speed limit is 75!!!

I just introduced my wife to Albuquerque in hopes of getting here moving in that
direction...I'm just waiting for the day she says "lets move to Albuquerque"...I'll
pound a for sale sign in the yard that morning, call the movers and be outta town
heading west by sundown!!!
