My rivets are in the 9 and 3 o'clock postions, while the new cover, has them in the 12 and 6.... Someone tell me I am totally missing something.... HELP.... BUT, the stock rivets are on the left and right hand sides of the new cover.... The new cover has them on the top and bottom.... the new one is drilled 90* out from the orginal... follow me? Make more sense? Chase   Koz5150 Posted on Friday, June 17, 2005 - 07:14 pm:        Chase when you pull the old cover off, you will have a backing plate that is screwed to the engine. Those screws will be at 12 and 6 o'clock. When you install the new cover, just use the same holes. You can takc the screws to the hardware staore and replace them with stainless or chrome ones   Chasespeed Posted on Friday, June 17, 2005 - 07:36 pm:        So, drill the rivets.... Flimsy little cover comes off, backing plate behind.. remove backing plate..get new screws/bolts, Install new cover w/ out backing plate... Chase   Koz5150 Posted on Friday, June 17, 2005 - 07:39 pm:        I kept the backing plate inbetween the engine and timing cover, but it is your choice I believe there is a paper gasket in there too. Chase is already on his way but for anyone else who is in need, look for the 'rivet eliminator kit' on the American Sport Bike site. You could definitely get all the pieces at the hardware store but I liked that it was all in one bag for a decent price.
