put the sled on it's sidestand. place an upended cinderblock beneath the r.isolator plae/footpeg mount now, tilt the machine over onto the cindeblock, and place another under the left. remove wheel, and yadda-yadda-yadda (Message edited by tramp on June 16, 2005) | ||

yep- just push down on the seat, and the wheel'll be off the ground. then you can hold it up with a well-placed block of wood under the front shock mount or the front isolator mount. don't worry, there's going to be very little actual force on 'em | ||

i hook the handlebars to the rafter with a ratchet strap or comealong and hoist away. good luck, tim | ||

Don't think the handlebar idea would work with him wanting to remove the fork tubes. My two cents. | ||

Smoke's got it! Just hang the bike by the frame rather than the handlebars. "Rafters" is the key word here. (Message edited by Ray_Maines on June 16, 2005) | ||

Cheap jack stands under the footpeg brackets work well as well. I usually add the ratchet strap to the rafters for added security. I have a small - and cheap  - hydraulic jack I use under the front of the motor. Use a scrap of wood to cushion and spread the load. Henrik | ||

I have used the "rafter jack" in the past and it works well, but it is not stable enough to apply torque to parts of the bike if you choose to wrench on some other stuff while your ride is out of comission unless you have a strap attached to the floor as well. I use the "jack stand under the foot peg" method myself. | ||

I use a couple small car axel jack stands under the footpeg mounts. A small floor style hydraulic jack under the front of the motor with block of wood. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm, sounds like what Henrik does!!! |
