Wanted

Going to be spending some time(3 weeks worth) in the Philly area(Willow Grove). Need recomendations for places to ride. Will be working nights and riding the weekends into oblivion(weather permitting).

Ya know places to go, people to greet and meet, the nearest HOOTERS!

Loki of Motor City: For some really great riding, head northwest into the Appalachian mountains and pick a road; it's hard to go wrong. If you have a weekend free, some of the best riding is out near Lock Haven (West of Williamsport, PA}.

How far do you want to ride? Are you up for an overnighter? If so, get a room at a B&B in Lock Haven then check out PA44, and PA144 (take the detour through Kettle Creek S.P.) and the road going up to the West Ridge of the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania (~10 miles E of where PA 144 meets PA6 in N. Central PA). PA87, if you can work it into your journey, is a very nice forest road with excellent pavement.

You might consider heading SW to Shenendoah National Park and its 100 miles of non-stop parkway twisties. You may have to force yourself to turn back north rather than continue on for the adjoining 500 mile southbound Blue Ridge Parkway. Damn, just thinking about it is getting me anxious for another cross country trip.

Sorry, I'm not more familiar with roads neared Philly. Cecil errr "BrianH" will probably be able to help you better around the Philly area.

Maybe you could hook up with José and his the DC Braggers or some of the Tri-State refuse?

If you do ride with the TST, be prepared. They are pretty much maniacs. Have fun, whereever your Cyclone takes you.

I can take care of you. I live right near Willow Grove. Just let me know when you'll be in town. I can introduce you to the Sunday riding crew and take you on the back roads of Bucks county. We're a bit of an aggressive bunch though. Be warned.

For now looks like the 6th is when I need to be there. If all goes to plan will be in on saturday(4th) sometime. Any suggestions for a motel? good eats? More than likely working afternoons(3-11)

Was in there a couple years ago for a week and have since done a ram dump on the area.

All really great guys too. They will wait for stragglers. :)

NW NJ has some really fun country roads too. The Hawk's Nest just past Port Jervis following the NY side of the Delaware River is a REALLY cool scenic spot with some cliffside twisties. I remember Court saying something about BMW shooting a commercial there once.

The trip up and down NJ's High Point State Park, just a few miles down the road from Hawk's Nest, will have you grinning.

Going uphill to High Point on your way SE you will have three lanes to play with (two are going up the mountain, one down) and a great stretch of 25-35 mph sweepers that will safely accommodate well over double the limit knee dragging. Road surface is VERY nice. Going uphill is great, you can stay on the gas and off the brakes. Make one pass at near the legal limit to check for speed traps. Go early to avoid weekend traffic and try to find another sport rider who knows the road and follow him up the mountain.

Most everything I've suggested is good ways from Philly, but for a weekend trip, or if you aren't adverse to 400 mile days, it would definitely be worth it.

Take 611 up to where it meets 32 and runs up beside the river(Delaware) The road isn't bad and there is a little joint on your right (might be a couple miles) that has decent food and it always seem to get bikes in there. BrianH should know what the place is called. Just about any road is pretty good up there.

Go out to the Poconos. I remember it being pretty nice 20 years ago. My dad was a VFD and worked the fire pit at the races there. All the roads around the KOA we camped at were pretty scenic.
There's a Hooters on Front street right on the Delaware river. All the clubs and bars are down there too. Go to Pat's for a real cheesesteak. Have a "whizzy" for me.

So Loki, when are you going to be in town? Let me know and I'll show you around on two wheels. Are you the put around type or the pass on double yellow type? Serious question cause I don't want to take you out with a bunch of lunatics if it's not your bag. I'd be more than happy to take a casual afternoon ride with ya if it's more to your liking.

The restaurant Shot_Gun is talking about is called "The Great American Grill." It's got pretty good food. But on Sunday afternoon River Road (32) has quite a few cars on it. More of a Harley cruise than a sportbike thing. There are plenty of great roads around that area where you can go ape shit! We could hit Van Sant airport where sportbikers gather to watch gliders and eat hamburgers. Then we could hit Ringing Rocks park where the giant boulders have so much iron content that they ring when you hit them with a hammer. I'll take you around my personal race course in Bucks County and then we can hit New Hope and check out all the babes walking around.

The Poconos are a good option. But they're about 2 hours from Willow Grove. Let me know when you're in town. I'm sure I'll be out this weekend.

Van Sant airport is way cool, grass field, gliders, and old biplanes.

Van Sant Grass Field and Glider...
Cool Spot to take in the day

New Hope! That place SUCKS!!! One bike to a parking spot, cagers everywhere, $10 for a sandwich, $6 for a beer, traffic up the arse. The babes are something though...
New Hope Babes
<shudder>if you like old portley grandmas...

Ringing Rocks?! I was up thataway for near 10 months and never got an invite to explore the Ringing Rocks... sounds romantic though.

Get the gopher a helmet and a leather mini-skirt, he'll beg you to leave him at the hotel.

The expensive stuff was Art's fault Blake. That dumbass doesn't want to eat across the street at Fran's Pub because he's afraid someone will spit in his food. Got into a fight with a waitress or something. So he drags everybody over to Havana's for $15 hamburgers. There's also tons of FREE bike parking behind Fran's Pub. Beers are much cheaper there as well.

Dang! Never woulda picked out Art as a ... BMW rider. The brave girls that sat down at the table behind ours were cuties.

MikeyP had me take this.
Her name is Sharon, she's a CPA. Really nice girl. Definitely has some tangible assets.

If I didn't already know this was a biker board, I'd think "Loki Rides Philly" was a beastiality site.
