Koz

I think your ideas have everyone churnin and burning, and that's great -- while not all may agree 100% with your thoughts, that renders them no less valuable . . .If I worked for BRAG, I'd be cuttin and pastin like mad!

I don't sense an "everything Buell does if peachy" attitude -- perhaps folks are tryin to see the bright side, and be positive (which is hard to do electronically without sounding like Pollyana) . . . .

I agree w/you and Dave on the Factory tour -- first and second timers were leaving puddles on the floor, as I did the first time -- this time, I spent most of the time talking to Buellers (both owners and employees) -- I likely missed something of huge interst to me as I wasn't watchin

I agree with most of your comments, while still having enjoyed myself -- I also maintain that, although it's a BRAG event, it is also what each and every one of us make of it -- I'll get some rides together, get some maps reproduced (on your own for plastic bags, tho ;-} ), and post em in advance . . . . .

wanna help? you could hold a bling seminar (grin)

I like the idea of inviting (officially or not) vendors to show their stuff -- to avoid conflicts with the Iron Tower, mayhap they could be located at a hotle parking lot that WASN'T the HQ for the event?

if memoory serve, the 01 homcoming featured a track day at Blackhawk -- to quote the baby dinosaur, "AGAIN!"

FWIW I did not attend homecomming this year, nor did I go to any of the other BRAG events that were race related. I didn't think I would enjoy them enough to make the hastle & expense of a trip worth while.

I DO hope to go to the event this fall in Levale, MD. I think I'll have a great time.

I'm glad BRAG does different types of events. It would be very difficult to plan one event that made everyone happy.

>How about next year sign up for CLASS school at Road America to get out and really ride.

My Buell Homecoming weekends (99,00,05) always end at CLASS. Reg even gives $50 off (and challenges your local dealer to match it) if you've just bought a new (05) sportbike (incl XB) (not incl FJR ).

Maybe the factory (ie Marketing) could match the $50 if the dealers don't step up.

If I do a Bling seminar, can I do Daves bike!

Actually I am currently in the process of putting a ride together for this fall. All types of bikes around Lake Winnebago. All day family event with food, games, band, and nice ride for a local charity.

Dave, I may stop by for some Bling today...

The closest I got to this years homecoming was the pictures and the stories posted here. And I loved every minute. I went to the 20th by airplane and rental car, it was the longest I have been away from my office in eight years. In my case the 20th was the high point of my year. Even if the homecomings were a carbon copy year after year it would still be the high point of the year for me. Sounds sad doesn't it? Well the chance to see and talk to the great folks that build these bikes in their natural environment (factory) is out of this world. I could spend the whole day just doing that. But wait then there are more Buells in the parking lot with actual owners to talk to than I have ever seen in one place. Ok the people are all different in every way but I have not found one I did not like to talk with and I have tried. Now if that was not enough, I went to school with a guy from kindergarden to high school that I have not seen since the mid 70's and he was there. We got a chance to talk for a few minutes and he remembered me like we had just spoke a week or two ago. I even have a poster for the wall if I should ever forget the 20th, planned, organized, sponcered by the folks here on BadWeb. Man it does not get any better than that. Keep up the great work and if I can I will try to show up for the next one. In the interum keep those stories and photos comming, some of us really do live thru them.

If I could plan the Homecoming next year?
Here's my plan,
Have it centered in Appleton!
Keep it a 4 day event, before or following the races at Road America.
Let's just say for an example we do it the same days as this year.
Thursday
Go to the factory.
Have a 1 hour suspension setup seminar, since people get to the factory at different times maybe do a morning and an afternoon one? Shawn Higbee or Ed (I'll butcher his last name so we'll just call him Ed)could do the seminar. Include tuber suspension info.
Tours of the factory of course!
Lunch, buffet style like this year.
Banner signing, group photo
Scenic ride to Appleton? It is about 125 miles give or take. Have a direct route and a scenic route.
Dinner, guest speakers TBD, I have some ideas

Friday
Meet at H-D/Buell of Appleton for morning donuts and Diet Pepsi(I might even make Kool-Aid)
Al and/or others would be welcome to set up a booth and sell stuff for about 4 hours or so. That way Al and I can still have some fun!
Then the choices start, you could do whatever activity appeals to you,
Service seminar, maybe go thru a 1000 mile service?
Choice of rides,
Ride 1 Ride north thru the reservation
Ride 2 Ride up to Door County
Ride 3 Ride to the Kettle
Get your own lunch wherever your ride group wants. I'd have some suggestions for you.
Meet back in Appleton for dinner.Guest speaker Court, we can finally remind him to tell us stories!
Group photo

Sat
Go to the races!
Hospitality tent, that was great to have when it rained! Maybe we could do the parade laps as our own group like Suzuki had set up? We can get our own lunch. Have some donuts and pop, real pop, Pepsi products!

But, I haven't forgotten about those of you that don't like races.
You would be able to do the ride or rides you didn't do on Friday. Get your own lunch again.

Sat night
Kind of a farewell dinner, since a lot of people left on Sunday to get back home.
Guest speaker Erik Buell
Maybe some guest appearances from the Buell racers?

Sunday
Back for day two of the races
or
do the last of the 3 rides
or head home

I would set it up so there are 2 packages to buy,
Package one, race package includes tickets to the races and parade lap and everything else

Package two, Ride package would include everything except the race tickets.

thanks Alex! it's been up (i use that term very loosely) for about a week and we're still figuring out the basic format, features and such. LOTS of words and pix to get hung on there, will prolly never be done, Out of Words is the first major project, will get the Lake Isabella to Zion portion of your RANE ride as soon as i can, too. thanks again. sorry all for momentarily hi-jacking the thread.

Dave, I love your idea. I wrote something similar in the Brag Survey they wanted us to fill out.

Let me expand on the idea here:

Thursday: begin at either Uke's or Racine for breakfast. Ride to East Troy for factory Tour/Lunch/Tech seminar. Scenic Ride to Wauwatosa, with a stop at the hut in Mukwonago, then on to the Capitol Drive for a special "after hours" plant tour. Maybe they can let us into WillieWorld too? After that hit some more Milwaukee sites (Milwaukee HD/B, Miller Brewery, Usinger's etc). Dinner/Party/Guest speaker somewhere in the Milwaukee area (East troy, New Berlin, downtown Milwaukee by the lake). Spend the night at final Dinner/Party location.

Friday: ride over to Hal's for breakfast, have a race team display/autograph session if possible. Place a target sticker on each bike. Then have a Scenic ride (hitting every "rustic" road along the way) from New Berlin to Appleton via Fond Du Lac & Oshkosh. Stop at some pro Buell dealer along the way for lunch. End day at Appleton Buell with a ride in bike show (Cleanest/dirtiest/most bugs in the target's bullseye/best customized/oldest/highest mileage Buell awards), dinner/guest speaker, vendor setup. Spend the night in Appleton

Saturday: Scenic ride from Appleton to Road America for those going to the races. At the races same setup as this year. It was very nice, better than 04, with a good location, excellent tent, live TV feed, parade laps, access to Buell/Aprilia demo rides, food, etc.

Have a race team tech seminar/autograph session after the races (like at 5 pm) to let the traffic die down leaving the track. Hit Siebkens for dinner/hang out/take pictures. Either stay in the Elkhart lake area or ride back up to Appleton.

Sunday: repeat Saturday's Schedule, maybe throw in a special "extended" demo ride exclusively for BRAG members.

For those not going to the races one or both days, set up scenic rides leaving Appleton towards Green Bay or Manitowoc, Sheboygan, etc.

Monday: for those who want to, CLASS Track day at Road America with special "BRAG" pricing and maybe a guest instructor.

One of the cool gadgets we got this year was the 64 mb USB memory stick.

But we did not put it to use.

Since most people had their digital cameras with them, it would have been cool if someone had a laptop with a memory card reader so people could download all their pictures every day, and then people could fill up their new USB memory sticks with their favorite pictures.

Actually I am an MSF certified instructor and could give a class at next years Homecoming if the sponsoring dealer has an open parking lot available.

Anyone at Buell listening??? I hope so, I know I would love to take some more experienced rider type classes! Nothing like learning more about how to ride my bike the way it was built to be riden
