Give wakeboarding a try. It is fun, can be done behind any boat and is addicting.

There is also those 90mm assimilators (almost equivalent to a 1/4 stick of dynamite) that they sell at the fireworks stands as big firecrackers.
They work great under water and all you need is a rock and a string to drag them down to concussion depth.

Anyone who thinks a modern litre bike is souless simply hasnt wrung one out hard enough.

Love the Ducs but I am one of the few folks who doesnt like the rattle of a dry clutch. Does Ducati even offer bikes with wet clutches?

I believe one of Ducati's ST Models has a wet clutch which may find its way into other bikes using the same engine. |

A number of years back I owned 2 Jetskis in adition to 2 bikes & I will tell you that sometimes it was simply too darn hot & miserable to ride the bikes. It was great to launch the skis & spend the day on the rivers & lakes. I used to spend a lot of time on the Illinois river right by Coolices place......absolutely fantastic place for boating. |

Frank,
I will try the wakeboarding stuff..eventually. Bought a tube & tow ropes etc, right after I picked the boat up today.
Tomorrow we are hitting the Wisconsin river, going to see if my 2 1/2 yr old grandson likes boating. He sure liked sitting in the drivers seat with the boat parked in the street but once its in the water & running he may be a little scared. |

Seriously, enjoy your time with your family; there's more happiness there than any machine can give.
Someday, you have to come back out to New England. There are still roads and places to see that you and your wife would really enjoy. |

We plan on it Crusty.
This years vacation plans got shot all to hell though with the relocation & the wife finding a new job, etc. So this is how we are vacationing this year..1 weekend at a time.
You come on back here & we'll take you boating, snowmobiling, hell we may even ride the bikes |

BTW..passed the water test, launched on Swan lake..its about 460 acres. Had the wife & grandson with me, spent about 1 1/2 hrs just farting around. The wife didnt like when the bow would rise outta the water just before it leveled out. Said it felt too much like a wheelie
My grandson loved it, wasnt sure how he would react but he didnt want to get out. He even sat in the boat by himself while we launched it off the trailer & he just laughed. He's 2 1/2 & sometimes is skittish around motorized vehicles but for some reason he likes boating.

I almost bought another jetski today, older Seadoo XP just like the one I used to have but then I thought "what the hell do I need that for when I have the boat now?"
Congrats on the GS..those things can flat out fly. |

For peace and tranquility sit on the bow of that boat with your legs dangling over the front then get your good lady to take you for a gentle ride around the pond.
You won't hear much apart from the breeze passing your ears and about all you'll see that's relative to you is the point of the bow between your legs if you look down. The rest of the world feels like your floating through it - which of course you will be.
Try it - it's an amazing feeling and perhaps more opposite than going balls to the wall around a track on an R1 as one could get. Rather like a magic carpet ride in fact!!!

Right you are Rocket. I did a 6 month contract working on a cruise ship back in the mid-eighties. One of my fondest memories is leaving Oslo one evening - sitting as you describe - in the very front of the ship as we sailed out through the archipelago around Oslo. Fantastic.

I've trawled right up past Nord Cap and into the White Sea off Russia. Spent just short of a week bunkered up in Honingsvaag (sp?) too. Everything in Norway cost a fortune. Even beer! And it still does.
I have a vivid memory of the sun coming up in the Arctic Circle at about 2 in the morn. Such sights and experiences are rare in this world unless you're a Viking - or were invaded by 'em!

Anyone care to guess how much time the typical recreational boat owner spends maintaining, preparing, storing, covering, uncovering, towing, launching, refueling, winterizing, storing their boat versus time spent enjoying it on the water?
Wish I had one.

Blake, right you are about the time spent not actually being in the water.
When I had my jetskis I had the routine down pretty good & only lived 2 blocks from lake michigan so I minimizes the down time. Right now im 11.5 miles from the wisconsin river so its not too bad but still I can leave my house about 10:30 & return around 4:00 & have spent maybe 2-3 hrs on the water. Rest of the time is fueling up, hauling, launching, loading up, etc.
But the time on the water is worth it, some days its just too darn hot to ride the bikes & its great to be able to cool off & relax with the family. Only problem is the water reflexs so much of the suns rays back at you thats you get burnt & dont even know it until you get off the boat. Some SPF50 sunblock should handle that tho |
