I am trying to make some changes and would like some input. I am thinking of getting either an '04 lightning (900cc) or an '05 city lightning. Which is better? Also should I trade in my bike or sell it and start all over. I now have an '05 P3Blast with less the 200 miles on it. Thanks for any input you can provide.

one thing to consider if you havent sat on both the lightning and the city lightning. the city version has a flatter seat and sits taller. i am 5'5" and am not comfortable on the city version. i actually have the low version of the regular 900cc lightning, which i think is discontinued, but exists in the 1200cc version.

other than the pirelli tires and different seat, its mostly (in my opinion) cosmetic stuff - translucent panels, black wheels, hand guards, headlight grill.

i went from a buell blast to a lightning last summer, but i put 2000 miles on the blast before i traded it in. the difference between the 2 is amazing. its essentially 20 lbs heavier with GOBS and GOBS more torque and horsepower. so the lightning, whichever model you get, will handle much differently and be less forgiving than your blast. if the blast is your first bike, i'd suggest getting some more miles in on it first. that being said, i love my XB : D

I test drove an '04 lighting 900cc (free backpack and I loved it. I know its now DC'd thats why I cant choose between the '04 lightning or '05 city. I am 5'7" so the height was fine.

You can always put a 12S or 12Scg (low) seat on the cityX.

the only real differences between the two besides cosmetics is the CityX has the newer one piece throttle bodies & the newer ecm. The CityX also has the beefier 43mm forks. If you choose the CityX, just be carefull with the clear plastic as it does not like gas spilled on it.

Actually, test ride both and go from there. Best way to decide.

Is the blast your first bike? If so, don't get either. The blast is about the 4th bike I've had, and I've put 6,500 miles on it and I'm still riding the out of it.

What is the "homecomming"? Yes; It is my first real bike (I had a Honda Elite about 20 years ago. Dont get me wrong; I like the blast. I just have a few minor issues with it.....The shifting boggs, it has no get up and go, foot pegs are abit uncomfortable. I liked it to learn on but for a long term thing I'm not so sure anymore.

The CityX is a great bike, but will feel very tall. Fixing it is just a seat swap away. The grip handguards are exceptionally useful also.
