Any ideas on when the belt should be replaced? | ||

Hey, good to see another SC Bueller on here. I believe the recommended interval is 30,000 miles on tuber belts. When you do get ready to change it, see the recent posts about using an XB12 belt which is (a) cheaper, (b) better and (c) a perfect fit. | ||

Well... I replaced mine at 20,000 miles while I was doing the rear isolators...the old belt didn't look to have anything wrong with it, but I didn't want to put it back on and have it fail in less than 10,000 miles... | ||

if you ride a lot in the rain, you will use up the belt pretty fast. all the road grit is rinsed constantly through the belt drive pulleys. my pulleys were pretty well torched after the first belt broke at 7000 miles. | ||

I have 90,000 miles on my springer belt... been through some nasty rain... but then again, I ride the springer a little more conservative than the Buell...  | ||

My original had 50,000mi. on it when I changed it out. It looked in fine shape with little wear. I ride in rain quite often too. | ||

My belt (2000 X1) let go at 16000 miles while beating it good. It had no rock holes or any damage I noticed. It just pulled apart, at first I thought the tranny •••• the bed! Took a couple of minutes before I noticed there wasn't a belt there... | ||

So my buddy Brian and I were out one afternoon, stopped by the farm we both worked at back in the day to say hi. Brian went to do a burnout, and nothing. Had the belt wrapped around his right arm. My guess is that it was a combination of rocks from the many dirt roads we ride back home and way too many burnouts. I think he had about 30,000 on that belt, which wasn't bad at all considering all that it had been through. It wasn't bad to change, took probably 3 or 4 hours one evening with a healthy dose of beer. If you've got everything torn apart to do isolators or have a weekend sometime in the winter, replace the belt. It's cheap insurance. 70,000 on the Road Pig's original belt.  But I hardly ever wheelie that bike! rt | ||

2001 X1 broke @ 36000 got a pine cone in it. showed no wear signs. | ||

have 27,500 on my origonal belt.. you guys are scaring me now.. lol should i expect it to snap anytime soon? I may just go replace it in a couple months and hang the origonal up as a spare. | ||

The original belt on my M2 Cyclone popped at 13k miles. It's worth noting that I frequently carried a passenger with that bike and the tension was improperly adjusted for quite a while. | ||

I lived in Gonzales Tx for about a year and a half, back around '86...I have since developed a passionate HATRED for chicken farms..... My father managed the Golden Fried Chicken the year it opened, and my mom managed the BRAND NEW (back in '86) Golden Corral (back then it was a real honest-to-gosh steak house, not the crappy buffet GC has become now). Of course, I was in the 6th grade then...that was a great summer, Ahhh..the memories...heh heh | ||

Mine broke at about 28,000 miles on my 99 Cyclone. Many wheelies, burnouts and drag racing. Replaced belt, isolators and swingarm bearings with a lot of advice from the board. Found the old belt 3 weeks later and about 75 yards from where it broke. Good thing no one was riding behind me when it let go. |
