Stock wheels but should have gone with better rods.Have S&S stuff in 2 motors now.One is the old style heavy wheels and the B'ville bike has the newer Buell set-up with the knife edged crank.---
Course I kinda exceeded the design parameters of the stock rods with the turbo---

Mine's overkill running on stock capacity but for peace of mind alone the S&S crank and rods are superb quality.

That said one major difference you notice though which makes it so worth while is the motor spins up and revs so much faster and right through the rev range thanks to the lighter S&S assembly. You'll also notice a lesser effect on engine braking but that's not to be seen as a negative. On the contrary in fact.

Having to replace the rear rod (no fault of the product) you purchase a rod set and crank pin for around $400 which I thought was great value. My used pin has done nearly 10000 miles hard on Mobil 1 and it's like new still. The rods are good for up to 200bhp.

So you could use Buell wheels and S&S rods and pin, available as a kit off the shelf, which wouldn't be a bad way to go if you're working to a budget. That would be $400 plus the cost of putting it together if you need to pay someone to rebuild the crank.

While the cases are split, is there anything else that should be added. Zippers windage tray? Do I recall that there is a mechanism to spray oil on the bottom of the rear piston?

I haven't bothered with any mods to the cases but I believe one of the old Battle2Win mag's showed how to do the windage tray thing.

Didn't Pete put one in his Aerocharger S1? Pete?

Windage tray and exterior oil lines from heads to case.Windage tray comes with instructions and is just drilling a couple of holes.

I am still in the process of my first 88" buildup. Case mods are limited to cam clearancing for future BIG cams and oil jets from Axtell. Axtell and my dealer discourage windage tray/crank scraper due to problems they had seen with some piston skirts.

Take this for what you will.......
