Ok folks, Got a question for ya that have owned or own a Chatterbox system... Phat J offered me a great deal, now what i am wondering is how well these work? this is the 2 mile version, and i am all geeked cause it will work w/ my Ipod. But how much of a pain in the aZZ are these? I can deal w/ charging it, cause i charge my cell and Ipod daily, so that isn't a big deal... Just curious to know what everyone's thoughs are... trust me the price is NICE!! |

We like ours, and have gotten over 2mi range out of them before. The helmets and wind protection seem to make the biggest difference. A noisy helmet and no windsheild makes you almost impossible to understand over about 55. A good helmet and a windshield (S3T w/ ZeroGrav) make you understandable up to about 70. Try these toys for optimum use: http://www.clearercom.com/motorcycle_headset.htm http://www.etymotic.com/ephp/er6i.asp |

In my opinion, the only way to go is with a Collett Communicator. No need to upgrade speakers or mics, the voice activation is flawless, and the range is incredible. They also offer great technical support. |

The voice activation on my Chatterbox sucked on my S3T. The engine noise would trigger it. I used the push to talk. It was great for up to about 40mph, after that? useless. Good for stoplights... "uhhh which way now?" was good for low speed stuff. I KNOW it saved a crash once... I radio'd back to Melissa to watch out for a VERY bad corner coming up... one in our group had already crashed there, and everyone had trouble with it. She slowed down and made it through no hassles. I would like to try out the Autocom system and see how it works... They USED to claim, "Any Bike, Any Speed". |

We always used PTT. As an aside, the toys listed above can be easily used with the $40 FRS radio sets you can buy everywhere. Check the Clearercom site for reviews. |

If I recall, the IPOD uses a hard drive for storing the MP3's on it. I would not recommend using that on a bike. The vibrations and jarring it could receive could render the hard drive useless. BTW, I have a Collett Communicator and would recommend it to anyone. |

The vibrations and jarring it could receive could render the hard drive useless Mine survived 5500 mile trip last year, no problems, 3 weeks on the raod, 3 days of rain, and it was on a harley no less, i do think it may have dimmed the lcd sreen however, but i leave it on shuffle, so no matter Also use the chaterbox, loved it, worked great, but same problems as everyone else at higher speeds, but light to light it worked great, made it easier than using hand signals R |
