I came across this thread without knowing what I'd be reading, and began wondering what in the world I could possibly have to say that would mean anything. Rob's story has touched me and and produced the kind of indelible memory that we carry with us for the rest of our time here on earth. Rob clearly has a lot of people who cared for him, and that made him rich beyond what money can buy.

Deepest sympathies,
Steve & Sue

I am so sorry, My heart just aches for all of you.

"He will raise you up on eagles' wings,
Bear you on the breath of dawn,
Make you to shine like the sun,
And hold you in the palm of his hand."

God Bless and lean on each other for strength.

Godspeed brother and peace be with you and the loved ones.

For some unknown reason I looked at the backside of my toolbox at work today. Just something stenciled there for the past couple years.

My condolences to his family and friends. This is a poem a friend gave me afer my wife passed.

"I'M FREE"

Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free
I'm following the path God has laid you see.
I took His hand when I heard Him call
I turned my back and left it all.

I could not stay another day,
To laugh, to love, to work, or play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
I found that peace at the close of the day.

If my parting has left a void,
Then fill it with remembered joys.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss,
Oh yes, these things I too will miss.

Be not burdened with times of sorrow.
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much.
Good friends, good times, A loved one's touch.

Perhaps my time seemed all to brief.
Don't lengthen it now with undue grief.
Lift up your hearts and peace to thee.
God wanted me now; He set me free!

Godspeed Rob. I'll get in a ride in your memory this week. May you head for Heaven at full throttle and find peace. And may God's peace find your family here.

I'm so sorry to hear that and sorry that Steph is taking it hard, I hope prayers help.

This thread and the posts from Team, Steph, Lori and everyone else has had an impact on me even though I didn't know him, and I'm thankful.

God be with Team and all those he left behind.

I'm so sorry to read of Rob's passing, yet I know from his posts he is in good hands. I hope to take a ride with him when the time comes. Before I was diagnosed with Multiple Myloma I carried a rural mail route in a small Kansas town. Duane lived on my route. He contracted Lou Gehrigs Disease.

When he passed away I wrote this poem. It reflects my faith that there will be motorcycles in Heaven.

Owed to Duane (for memories of a free spirit)

Out south of town,
I was driving around
And stopped to put mail in a box.
Heard something coming from behind,
Looked in the mirror and blew my mind.
That big single sure could talk.

I guess i must have stared in awe,
Just because I never saw
Anyone ride a wheelie like he.
Around the turn, around the curve,
Still he never lost his nerve,
Wheel in the air as far as my eye could see.

He rode a thumper, what a joy,
Not a little two-stroke toy,
I'd guess about 500 cc.
High wheeled and rough,
Graceful but tough,
But not as graceful and tough as he.

One day I was stuck,
Axle deep in mud and muck,
He and his dad saved my day.
With a smile and a shout,
They pulled me out,
And wouldn't accept any pay.

We will miss you Duane,
Now gone is your pain,
From all earthly troubles you're free.
Free to ride that back wheel,
Just as long as you feel,
And as far as God's eye can see.

Rob, godspeed brother, I hope sometime in my life to be able to face anything witht eh kind of courage and strecnth you showed....

You will live on, as I dont belive ANYONW here will let your memory fade.....

As far as friends and loved ones, you have my deepst sympathies, as someone with that kind of strength and spirit DOES NOT come around often, and I have a feeling he met every challenge like this....

Ride in peace brother....

(I apologize for the delay, been hard to think of the right words, I am not good with them)

A "Rob(Team)RIP" sticker will be getting top spot above the organisers numbers on the Dakar bike.

Rob,
I hope it's as good there as I think it is : )
